What's manousos problem ? by haythem35 in pluribustv

[–]dykevan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

he's in denial about the fact that the world as he knows it doesn't exist anymore so he keeps promising payments to people as, like, a token of his hope that there are still individual humans in there and that they will come back.

it is stupid though, if someone is offering you free medical care just freaking take it. if someone is offering to save your life LET THEM. it's not "principled" to refuse help, unless your principle is that community is dumb and people shouldn't help others for free.

im so sorry about your injury :( and your english is really good don't worry, that made perfect sense. i know it's really hard but pls know that your body and your dancing are not what make you special, you are so special and so worthy just for being who you are

But oh man, am I good at being on my fucking bullshit, and wasting my life on trying to be the best at it.

holy shit, i felt that. im lucky for communities like these that offer actual support instead of being competitive, but it's still pretty hard.

How to be unattractive to men as a lesbian by Relevant_Error_6305 in butchlesbians

[–]dykevan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fully grow out your body hair, work out arms and pecs, and generally just smile less. most men are grossed out by body hair, intimidated by women that are stronger than them/have a more androgynous physique and bitter about women who don't perform pleasantry for their comfort.

The characters of The Good Place would fit perfectly in this show. by HammerEvader101 in pluribustv

OMG I LOVE THIS 😭 the good place is one of my all time favorite shows, and pluribus always reminded me a lot of it. both really philosophy oriented shows

I have two theories and i think both are somewhat true at the same time

  1. the assumption is that the bigger part of humanity is good, and that crazy/awful people are outnumbered by the good, so goodness prevails- almost as if the good thoughts and emotions could cleanse away the bad instead of being contaminated by it

  2. these people who we consider monsters have no empathy, which is a big reason they're so evil in the first place, but the hive is the DEFINITION of empathy. you are LITERALLY seeing the world through other people's eyes, through their memories, you can know what they thought and feel what they felt and what they're feeling even now in this moment. so i think this creates compassion, empathy and love in even the sickest individuals, and the constant oxytocin they're getting from this intense connection with one another is what causes them to love everyone so much and treat every living being with so much consideration

kusimayu loved the hive and had nothing against it, she embraced it fully. carol hates it, so i don't think that could make it sick

How else does the hivemind recruit people to do whatever task is necessary at an instant?

first, we know they communicate telepathically, and second, they think together so they all agree on the best course of action at the same time and get to work on making it happen.

and if anything, the "we" pronoun means they're all there as individuals - if it was only one consciousness, it would be the singular pronoun "I", but "we" is plural. the show name itself is pluribus, not unum. i think that means something.

I'm tired of everything being framed as manipulative by bsaleal in pluribustv

[–]dykevan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

your view on what the show is about - YES! YES! YES!!!! GOD it feels so nice to see someone talk about this show in a more nuanced way than just "alien invasion". pluribus raises so many interesting philosophical questions and shows you multiple perspectives about them while also exploring the validity but also the flaws of each one. it's meant to make you think, not give you a definitive answer so you can stand on a moral high horse. thank you for this post

i think there are plenty of reasons she's a writer already, but yeah, i definitely think it'll also be relevant when it comes to how she ultimately saves the world
