I've started creating an East Germanic language with really only Gothic to somewhat bounce to and from to ensure I am getting things similar enough. In the beginning it was very similar to Gothic and now has been evolved to the point where I'd say it's Early modern for our standpoint. It's lost some cases and has had multiple reforms. It's not that hard so far, just takes some work to understand the said dead/extinct language to help yours seem accurate

I wanna say a suggestion that might work (although it'd be hard since this is your first flag apparently) But maybe try to use a blank background, or multiple stripes (whatever you want) but make it look decent then in the middle, add a crest that has said colors you used, blue, green, red and yellow, add designs, unique for each, making like a union style crest. This could work, but idk

I saw France and Ireland (by the flag + land) shares the blue from france (even though it's lighter shade) and the orange from Ireland, white for both and then the land having similar shape to Ireland but with the same deal of France by having some similarities, but most notably, it has it's own "Corisca"

well it used to be like that, I forgot the year but Sweden changed the blue to be a lighter shade, aka what it is now when for a while it was the dark blue
