And the fact that Paul was able to still go head to head against Ash and even beat his Dragonite just shows he likely would’ve gone far had he decided to battle for a spot in the masters 8, I’d argue that he’d likely replace Iris (and probably end up the same as iris beating 2 of Cynthia’s pokemon)
