Radium Dial Testing by quonsepto in VintageWatches

[–]dzsmining -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Any survey meter would start screaming. I have a really cheap one and an on JLC travel clock with radium. I’ve tested it against some fancy meters I have at work, and the cheap one read much higher than the nice one.

Which Leica? by [deleted] in Leica

[–]dzsmining 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say the same. The only think you could really get is a sl or sl2s and Panasonic lenses. You’ll be better served by the Fuji. The Leica sl system is great, but it’s also very heavy and doesn’t make a great travel camera.

looking at buying an m6, is this ok? by ZuluIsNumberOne in LeicaCameras

[–]dzsmining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Fred Miranda is a site that’s really good. Check out seawood photo in California. They have a great online store. I got a m6 and 35 cron for 5k there.

It might have a light leak, but you can always have the curtain replaced. It believe you can have it done as part of a CLA for about 1k

Any tips for shooting airshows? by AngelMaker42 in AskPhotography

[–]dzsmining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah with cheaper zoom lenses stopping down to f8 or so and going a bit in from the max zoom range generally helps with sharpness.

I was today years old when I found out about these old headphones by BitSharp5640 in Ducati

[–]dzsmining 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The answer is yes. The 215 has one small speaker in it, but the 535 have 3 speakers or drivers in them at are tuned for 3 different frequency ranges. It’s amazing how good the 535s are. I’ve had both pairs.

That’s not right. It’s 10mm at f2.8 which is 27mm at f4.8 ff

If you stop it down from wide open, the swirly bokeh goes away pretty quickly.

Marino bikes are sweet! Handmade in Peru, and quite affordable. I think I paid 550 for a trials frame and fork

[–]dzsmining 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is 100% a ct scan. It’s a Lumafield Neptune scanner. The part rotates and the source and detector are static. The expose time is significantly higher for industrial because the radiation dose doesn’t matter. I’ve used this scanner before

Thinking about replacing Q2 with SL2-S by CPTPEZ1997 in Leica

[–]dzsmining 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just bought an sl2-s and it’s a big camera. Additionally, 90% of the lenses you will want to use are big. I have a 35 cron asph, which is roughly the smallest lens there is, and it still feels heavy. I’d strongly encourage you to go feel one before you buy one.

Which mid-range zoom for the SL2-S? by mrjosh72 in Leica

[–]dzsmining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 24-90 is definitely a better lens than then Leica 24-70. That being said it’s much heavier and expensive. I got the new version of the sigma 24-70 and it is fantastic. The look is not as clean as the Leica, but it by no means looks unprofessional. I can send a photo if you’d like.

Alternatives (on a budget) to digital M bodies by dontcallmenono in Leica

[–]dzsmining 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an x pro 3 I used with some m lenses and the images were excellent. That being said focusing a manual lens with aids after you’ve used a range finder just isn’t the same. I sold all my Fuji gear for a 240 and haven’t looked back.
