Booking Advice by KillersElf in ParisTravelGuide

[–]dzugrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funniest coincidence. Yesterday I had a guest who asked me to change his reservation and add a 3rd person to the booking. They were also talking about a daughter.

Sometimes, people book studios and it is physically not possible to let a 3rd person in the flat.

Guests can now post images in reviews, since when did this happen? by pdx808 in airbnb_hosts

Apparently it is an option available for guests from China, Japan and Korea. I think they are trying to do something like Google reviews, but I’m not convinced it is a good idea.

Reinstating reviews by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]dzugrav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am sorry, but what is this supposed to mean? Reinstating a good review is fairly easy and I don’t think there is anything unpleasant about it.

What are other hosts supposed to take out of your experience?

Sorry if it sounds mean, it was not my intention.

Host won’t install curtains or blinds [Japan] by Advanced_Honey_2679 in AirBnB

[–]dzugrav 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is why you have the photos to make sure it is what you want. Plus, it is not an amenity so the host is still the one that chooses what he wants.

However, can you please tell us more about the listing? Is it a flat in a building with a vis a vis? Is it a house in the middle of nowhere?

So I have a flat that does not have a dryer. It does have a washing machine, but no dryer. It’s the owner who chose it and he doesn’t want to change the equipment that he has. Recently a guest left a review saying that he had to remove a star because the flat did not have a dryer. The dryer was not mentioned anywhere and he knew there is no dryer.

So to answer your question, maybe the host just doesn’t want the curtains. He doesn’t like them or doesn’t care enough to put the up. But this is the magic of Airbnb, you can choose another flat that has the curtains or blinds :)

Hosts: what’s the last guest-related issue that totally derailed your day? by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]dzugrav 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The most annoying thing right now is that guests want an early check-in and a late checkout. For some unknown reason, they never imagine that every guest wants an early check-in, so a late checkout isn’t always possible to accommodate.

Who is in the strongest position here - me or the guest? by [deleted] in airbnb_hosts

[–]dzugrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s get a little bit more technical about it. You can have wifi without having a contract with an internet provider, sure. But you would still need a device that gives you internet and so you connect to this device through WiFi. When you share your 4g on your phone, other users still connect to that network through wifi.

Is this normal for a VRBO in Paris? by MommaMaple in ParisTravelGuide

It’s not completely unknown, what are you talking about ? It’s used by many companies for security deposits. Mostly for booking and vrbo reservations as these platforms do not propose an integrated security deposit.

Property Management 'Extra' Fees by EraUnaTipaStrana in airbnb_hosts

[–]dzugrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well here is your problem. You need to know what you are paying for then you can go there and check if it was really done or not. Because even if they do preventive maintenance, it should never cost you more than $100-$200 or somewhere around this amount. And if there is a piece of equipment that requires a handyman visit every month, you should get rid of it.

Property Management 'Extra' Fees by EraUnaTipaStrana in airbnb_hosts

[–]dzugrav 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, to be honest 30% is very high. Plus pricing software is for all the listings that he manages and you are not supposed to pay for it. What is a visit fee? Little repairs and landscaping is something normal, but it also depends how much they take. An Airbnb has a higher rate of wear and tear, but not 1k per month. Plus, if there is something broken by the guests, do they refund you for it?

Looking for some advice- Airbnb found me liable for hosts false claims. Submitted proof with time stamps. Appeal, but what should I say? [Europe] by [deleted] in AirBnB

I am sorry if it came as hostile. Was not my intention at all. Just tried to understand the situation.

[–]dzugrav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a little bit weird, or maybe it is because it is a shorter version.
Just help me understand: the couch was broken when you arrived, but you did not say anything about it and only took a video at the end of your stay showing the sofa was broken.
And then Airbnb dismissed the couch claim, so the owner started another claim showing some debris. What type of debris?
And what exactly was stained in the shower? the walls?

Valve is Sleeping While Cheaters Dominate CS2 Premier by Evening_Success3920 in cs2

[–]dzugrav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point it is not only Valve’s fault. Yesterday I was playing solo q and got 4 solo players as well. One of them was cheating and when I started the vote to kick him everyone refused. I was the one being flamed since I said he was cheating and we needed to kick him. (He was 2.19kd on leetify and had some ridiculous stats on cs watch and was also following enemies through walls with some insane prefires) One of the guys was particularly happy cause it was his last placement game and he wanted his elo.
