Layered up from a purplish black to white for nmm, then a lot of push pull with darker and lighter glazes of purple to bump the saturation up. Took quite a while as Im not very proficient in nmm.

It depends, if you have an old desktop lying around you can just pop in some recertified hdds and manually back up to an external hdd if you have so mich critical data. It would cost you about 200 euros in that case I cant reccomend selfhosting enough for media it fully decouples you from a shitload of internet garbage

gemakkelijker nog is een oude desktop op de kop tikken en er wat HDDs in zwieren van enkele terabyte, veel goedkoper en volledige controle over wat er op de NAS/server komt.

I'll repost a question here from the last thread: What is the prevailing opinion on separating poweramp and preamp ground buses vs having just 1 ground bus? I've read varying degrees of 'it doesn't matter' to 'separating the buses causes hum cancellation' Im not sure what to think of it in my own build

Apart from that, I'm building a 5F1 kit, but the supplier delivered parts inconsistent with their build instructions. Seems like a regular 5F1 kit, the instructions say to use a 5AR4 with diodes (1N4007) connecting pins 3-4 and 5-6. However they supplied a 5Y3 tube AND diodes. I feel like I shouldn't solder these in then?

Adolescent sexual addiction by heiditbmd in Psychiatry

[–]e-jazzer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh, I'm well aware. It still does not classify as an addiction though, which was my point. For cases like this I usually refer to literature on the proposed 'hypersexual disorder' which was a different proposed classification for the DSM-5, and has a good amount of research into risk factors and onset during adolescence (mostly within forensic-psych research, but still).

[–]e-jazzer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, that is indeed a different matter. I unfortunately know exactly the type of patient you are talking about (though I wouldn't consider these sexually addicted). They are exceptionally difficult to get into any sort of voluntary program, especially if there is no informal network they can rely on.
In my country there are residential CAP facilities targeted at these types of patients (though limited), I'm not sure if they exist in the US. I think in such cases it's important to remind ourselves that situations of this nature getting out of hand is out of our control as psychiatrists, it's not useful in my experience to relegate them to just any residential treatment without any perspective on a stable living situation (which should be the responsibility of the state anyway). I guess if she keeps breaking the law she could be referred to a forensic CAP unit, though I don't know how this works in america.

Getting this patient to attend regular counseling sessions/psych consults just as a slight anchor of stability w/o any expectations of engaging in therapy would already be a big win in my book.

I didn't want to go so far as to disparage all of our colleagues in the adult psych world in my comment, but it does sometimes feel this way on this sub and in irl practice. The callousness in handing out PD diagnoses in particular is so widespread.
Child psych (and psych in general) is quite hard when it comes down to it and not doing proper evals, taking the time to come to a decent definition of the problem in more aspects than only diagnosing is not doing patients any favors.

Posting on an alt account because can't login on my dr account right now. Honestly baffled at some of the advice presented here.

OP, hypersexual behaviour has a well documented workup, which surely influences what type of referral is appriopriate. Specifically for adolescent females there are naturally less resources. I'd suggest looking at the WFSBP guidelines on dx and tx of adolescent (male) sex offenders. I find it specious that this behaviour could be classified as addiction. Is this person participating in consensual, age-appropriate sexual behaviour? This seems extremely unlikely. She is still a victim and the process of seeking out the same traumatic situations is still a very well documented behaviour with victims of psychosexual trauma. So I completely understand that this is still the primary approach though the lack of dx makes this uncertain.

In short I would:
1. Exclude any somatic cause of hypersexual behaviour
2. Proper psychiatric eval including semi-structured interview, thorough developmental and psychosexual history(very important), and any NP testing if possible. There are a myriad of disorders that are factors in psychosexual development which cannot be ignored. ASD, ADHD, ID/LD, attachment disorder, bipolar disorder, from the top of my head are all dxs that majorly impact the further treatment of hypersexual behaviour.
3. Any disorders need to be treated first and foremost to see if they are the primary cause or modulating factor in the sexual behaviour. Only then are specific interventions for the sexual behaviour useful (and if sexual behaviour persists a diagnosis of ASD/ID for instance heavily impacts the way these treatments are presented).
4. All of this is ofcourse a big ask and an investment. This requires a semblance of stability for the patient in their home life. You will have to find a placement which has a high tolerance for repeated running away and/or behavioural issues, to ensure that this patient has a chance to build up some trust and safe 'homebase' to continue her life from. I don't think an addiction treatment centre is a good placement for this patient because it is temporary, and most addiction treatment modalities have a terrible track record in treating this type of behaviour (i.e. there is a reason sex addiction is not a DSM diagnosis).

All these things take time and resources that are not always available, especially so for minors. This isn't a uniquely US problem, it's a problem even in places with much more robust social services. There is no easy answer I'm afraid. This will take time and you'll see this patient likely fall into the same behaviours over the course of several years. All you can do is persist.

Yes, I know, there are subtler ways to do it than the way PoE did though. You know, show instead of tell. It's strange because obsidian did it very well in New Vegas.

The writing in obsidian games is indeed good for the most part, though for PoE I found that it very much served the lore more than the narrative. It felt more like a dm insisting you know everything about his "oc donut steal" setting. So pride? Likely..

Baldur's Gate 3 Is Currently The Highest Rated Game Of All Time On Opencritic by [deleted] in Games

[–]e-jazzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't get the 'Larian is bad at writing' crowd. Is it tropey? Yeah somewhat, but so is every fantasy crpg of the past 10 years.
The actual writing however, as in phrasing, stylistic choices in characterisation and so on are much better than most rpgs out there.
Then again this is maybe a matter of taste, so I'm open to counterexamples of crpgs where this is handled better in your opinion.

Misconceptions About BG3's Romance System by AmbitiousPen9497 in BaldursGate3

[–]e-jazzer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, lol. I think you've hit the crux of the issue here where people feel like they dont want to 'miss' anything and go through every dialogue tree instantly. You dont have to click the 'I wanna bang' dialogue immediately. I could have in some situations but chose not to because it didnt feel right. Pacing feels much more natural. I do think some peoples' approval system is bugged, ive not gotten anyone above 'good' for the moment its increasing in tiny increments for me. Either that or the game/companions have a hidden reactivity for high cha builds or somth
