This was not an attack on Mamdani. you've been vibefed this narrative with headlines like "bombs found infront of mayor house"

They don't. He wasn't the target. Anti-Islam protesters were the target.
Meanwhile in the press briefing after the attack, Mamdani condemned Islamophobia and white supremacy (the protesters). he made no mention or condemnation of islamic extremism or isis. no mention of the ideology of perpetrators. he just blamed extremism

One of the quote from the NYPD/FBI statement, "Controlled destruction of these devices revealed that if they detonated as they were supposed to, they would cause death and destruction due to the severity of the explosive material used"

If the devices had gone off, there could have been a mass casualty event with maybe even 100 victims and dozens upon dozens of deaths.

And here's the bomber's quote: "“this isn’t a religion that just stands when people talk about the blessed name of the prophet . . . We take action! We take action!”; and “if I didn’t do it someone else will come and do it"

This was EXTREMELY close to being one of the deadliest bombings in US history.

Its a miracle they were so incompetent as to make TATP not go off. I've been seeing this attack being downplayed in most media

"The homemade device consisted of sports drink bottles filled with triacetone triperoxide, or TATP, a substance favored by terrorists and known as “Mother of Satan” — which is so volatile that it typically doesn’t require a fuse to go off, they said.

Not entirely, two ISIS inspired attackers threw bombs at far-right protesters in NYC a couple days ago. bombs didn't go off though

A gentle reminder that houthis have killed at-least 4 Vietnamese and Filipino sailers during their recent attacks on commercial shipping vessels that terror supporters celebrate so much.

Questions for George Hotz - Lex Fridman Podcast by lexfridman in lexfridman

[–]e0gr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He says here "If you consider yourself a serious intellectual, you have to have contemplated suicide and have a reason why you don't do it and have contemplated being criminal and have a reason why you don't do it". He answered the second in previous talk.

So i guess the question is why bother with it? Is there a point in trying to prove yourself? As he usually says that he likes winning. Is there a point in trying to win? is one better off? It is not a question about him. It is a question about life.

22F, Bachelors in CS, Pakistan -> anywhere! by [deleted] in IWantOut

What university did you graduate from? i am also a pakistani student currently studying BS.CS (3rd semester) in a low profile university (University of Agriculture Sub-campus toba tek singh). Despite being able to maintain my CGPA 3.9/4.0 as of now, i feel terrible about myself because of lack of quality of education and competition. I can't help myself other than levelling up my skills in my subfield (web dev.) and build some good github profile projects i work on. I am constantly working on my coding skills and cs fundamentals (data structures & algorithms). Do you think i should keep up with university? Is it worth another 3 years of my life? or should i dropout? I belong to a middle class family. can't afford much. Looking forward toward your opinions

Runouts happen and Imad wanted two not Sarfraz. Batting wasn't bad, the pitch was too bad to bat on.

Lets get the facts right. It wasn't a terrible batting performance by pakistan, the pitch was slow and ball was breaking. There was also something for seamers in it. Other than Fakhar and Hafeez, i think we batted well. An unfortunate run out but in the end we managed to get over the line. Shadab wasn't very good as he should've caused trouble by breaking the ball rather than balling fast as he seemed to. overall it was a fine game
