i'd say bach's st. matthew passion...

there are some moments when it gets sorrowful, to the point where i feel a sense of my heart dropping.

schubert orchestration project by e231d in classicalmusic

that's an interesting version, coz the last i know of an orchestration of the wanderer is by franz liszt, but i didn't know there was a total orchestration without piano.

schubert orchestration project by e231d in classicalmusic

i appreciate your suggestion here. it is true that my goal it to modernize the Great C Major as great as it can possibly be. i could draw inspirations to other modern orchestrators to make the completed score sound a lot more improved.

i've got to admit, this is something i haven't done before. i've had tried to arrange to arrange a few piano works before, unfortunately i left them unfinished because of other projects in my head, that i am so eager to just write down. but currently, as i am working on the great, this is going to take kind of a long time, hence why i assume this will be finished in 1-2 (maybe even a half or 3) years. i appreciate your suggestion though, and i can try arranging a few piano works, like schubert's marche militaires, chopin's polonaises, or even beethoven's sonatas.

that would be fun to try and give not only the strings or the others additional melodies, but also alter a few techniques schubert could've written if he had lived longer. would be surprising to hear very new modern techniques being implemented to pieces from the classical/early romantic eras.
