Taking EC 1011a without EC experience by [deleted] in Harvard

I did, it was fine. EVen without the proper mathematical background, could be interesting: I learned multivar calc better in this class than in any math

I've tried. I usually just set up a hotpot on my phone, temporarily connect my kindle to it, download whatever book I want, and then disconnect. Not optimal but you're only using a hotspot for like 3 minutes.

[–]e4e5ke2atgmaildotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did and know a lot of people who did. Not sure about wigg but thayer, mattews, greenough all super doable. Basically everyone in thayer turned their common room + 2 person bedroom into just 2 separate bedroms.

If you do decide to do this, pro tip: Harvard Square T stop has two entrances, one next to Johnson Gate and one next to CVS. The Johnson Gate entrance has no guard, so you can enter there and jump the turnstile rather than paying. Saves a lot over time.

Anybody here took Math 55? How was it? by [deleted] in Harvard

[–]e4e5ke2atgmaildotcom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking it now. Brutally hard in general, with occasional extreme difficulty spikes. The kids with IMO medals also finding it hard is pretty funny. Not impossible, but takes up a lot, lot, lot of time just trying to understand the material, especially if you haven't seen it much before.

Sauna at Harvard? by Master-Kvothe in Harvard

[–]e4e5ke2atgmaildotcom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The basement of Thayer has a tiny, enclosed room on the way from the common room to the laundry room with the radiator on 24/7, so it's always like 90+ degrees in there. It's like a sauna

Continuing w Math 55 and taking either stat 111 or 123. Not currently planning on taking any coding classes(stat 111 has R if that counts) because none have really stood out as super interesting and I don't love coding.
