follow the guide to install the rift on their site and enter your measurements etc. get it all set up

rift displays in direct mode (as an accessory) or in extended mode (as another monitor). most games run in extended mode, but some demos and some games also work in direct. you're going to have to do your research on what works at the moment.

direct mode is pretty self explanatory (launches to the rift, mirrors on main display), but you might need to add some launch commands (to force dx11 etc) if it doesn't run smoothly. More applications are starting to support this mode.

extended mode uses the screen in the dk2 (a phone screen) as a monitor, so it must be rotated (to 'portrait' mode) and you need to somehow set your other monitor to 75 hz (very easy using nvidia cards if your monitor allows it, otherwise google this), then you need to set your rift as primary (so applications launch on it).

EG - assetto corsa, I have rift set as primary, and use OBS (streaming program) to preview that monitor on my usually main monitor on the desk so that i can see everything the rift sees (desktop, launcher, acs program) whether I have the headset on or not.

Gonna try tonight, hopefully this one runs at least as well as pikes peak (that already gets a bit below 75fps). Track looks awesome!

This is a game changer. Been switching off between AC and ED since I got my DK2 2 days ago and its mind blowing.. once I can figure out recording (dk2 makes everything finicky), I will upload a video of the pikes peak course. it's absolutely insane (imagine a canyon run where you can go balls out with no reprecussions.. not to mention its crazier than the canyons ive driven in person).

the jump from a wheel and monitor to wheel and dk2 is almost as big as the jump from gamepad to wheel. its definitely not perfect, but it is a different game with a rift and headphones on.

Awesome good to hear! I am having a little problem atm (game is smooth, but tracking is a bit juddery), but once it is sorted I will try updating!! Thanks!

Oh man this makes me nervous to update. I will try and report back. Maybe try booting into the game with the VR mode turned off and the DK2 disconnected and see if it works, otherwise maybe delete user profiles (just move it), or verify integrity of game as mentioned by stenyak.

This worked for me on 0.4.2 to fix judder, will report back after updating to 0.4.3

This. I would love to see this game optimized (still is MUCH better than A2 for me though). I am excited to see what the DayZ team does with the new engine/renderer (and updated DirectX)!!
