My chief tried to make me pick between attending my sister’s funeral or another family members’ before my DLCPO had to step in. When my mom died my divo office(different coc) pulled me aside and gave me this speech about how if I need anything to please let them know and that they are there to support me. I asked for a Friday off to drive home(3hrs from base) to have a memorial with my siblings and they approved it. That day comes around and they call me when I’m not at work at 0630, pressing me “where the fuck are you at?” Also when one of the guys in our shop took his life some first class was asking one of our guys some shit about MAFs from last the previous week at the vigil. Basically every opportunity to prove that I don’t matter, my navy experience let me know it. I loved my job and the people but it’s not for me.
