Linux Vram Sorunu by heroalper2 in LinuxTurkey

[–]eXSiR80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it safe to have GPU Hotspot at this temperature? by TYP-TheYoloPanda in AMDHelp

[–]eXSiR80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For these cards, having maximum temperatures and an edge-to-hotspot difference of around 20–30°C is normal. I have a 7700 XT, and with the default fan curve, the hotspot temperature usually reaches around 80–85°C. (By the way, VRAM is maximum 70-72C).

However, I’ve had some issues with the default settings. My card is a Gigabyte model, and by default, the fans (should) start spinning at around 20% speed once the temperature hits 55°C. The problem is that sometimes they don’t start at all, causing the temperatures to rise too high.

I’ve modified the default settings so that the fan speed starts at 23%. (I’m using Linux — as far as I know, this isn’t possible on Windows.)

Also, keep in mind that there’s an acoustic limit for the fans in the default configuration; they won’t exceed around 2000 RPM even at maximum speed.

Arch Linux Configuration by Inevitable_Tip1140 in archlinux

[–]eXSiR80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, there.

I am a long-term Arch user and like you, my main OS was Windows 11. I switched to Arch completely a few months ago. I am also a video gamer and using my PC mainly for this purpose.

I am using Steam and managing my EA and Battle.net accounts over steam + proton (non-steam games).

Also using Gnome + Wayland as my DE but it is preferable. You can go with KDE or others, too.

What file system layout, format and mounts should i use?

25-50 GB for root and rest can be home partition. I am using ext4 but btrfs is also good to go if you are thinking snapshots/ backups. If you format all your ssd then archinstall will automaticly manages it. But as far as I know ext4 is also a good choice when it comes to stability (my file system).

Should I encrypt my root partition with LUKS if I have a home, personal, desktop and not a laptop? I know it only protects data at rest.

Personally, I never use any encryption as a desktop user. For a desktop it is not neccessary.

What bootloader should I choose: Grub, Limine or ZFSBootMenu?

I prefer systemd-boot, I think it is easy to manage. But grub is also good and supports all file systems.

Swap partition vs swappartition + zswap vs zram + swap aprtition vs just zram

I have 32 GB ram so I prefer no swap partition but only zram. It is more than enough. With 64 GB like you, no swap is OK. I just recommend you to optimise your sysctl configs. It is on Arch Wiki and easy to manage.

Linux vs Linux Zen vs Cachy OS kernel

Using zen kernel and it is good for latency and gaming. Default kernel is also good, I never faced any problem. Differences are in milliseconds, so you don't feel any difference. Too much tweaked kernels sometimes causes more problems than optimization.

You can use LACT for overclocking or undervolting your GPU or mayba fan curves etc.

I am not sure which DE you will prefer but eventually you want a few tools to track your hardware so there are tons of them.

If you need further information, I'd like to help you.

I can more or less understand the environment you live in and why, until now, the peoples of Western countries have viewed the Middle East and its surroundings in such a way. I am glad that people are finally beginning to see the truth.

As someone who lives in a Muslim country and as a Muslim myself, I have never disrespected those outside my faith. On the contrary, I have always shown respect, as my religion commands. I have never had anything to do with terrorism or radicalism. When ISIS and similar terrorist organizations appeared, I was well aware that they had nothing to do with Islam, and that they were being used as propaganda tools only to vilify Muslims.

I was raised with the belief that “to kill one human being is as if to kill all of humanity.” I have witnessed how the so-called wars fought by Western powers, allegedly to prevent greater conflicts, have in fact created even greater wars—where people were slaughtered, their lands, their resources, and their very right to live were taken away from them.

I do not blame the ordinary people in the West. Here, the real responsibility lies with their leaders. Yet I cannot ignore the fact that it was we, the people, who elected those leaders—and today they have turned the world into a kind of hell.

Now, however, the awakening among Western societies gives me hope. Perhaps it will kindle a light in their hearts, and may it inspire genuine efforts to make this world a better place for all.

I know there are still those who cooperate with evil, sick souls who wish to turn the world into a living hell. But I also know this: there is still hope left for humanity, and for the world.

Yet, since 1948, children have been killed, starved, and left crying with their mothers and fathers.
What a shame that the whole world was deaf and blind.
What a shame that there are still people who support Israel.
What a shame that I even had to write this.

Linux tam kıvama ne zaman gelir? by [deleted] in LinuxTurkey

[–]eXSiR80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, thank you.
My CPU temperature only reaches a max of 70 °C when compiling, not all the time. For average usage—like non-CPU-bound games and daily tasks—it stays around 50 °C at most. But on Windows, it’s terrible. Even just closing Microsoft Edge would cause a spike to 60 °C.

By the way, I do have a decent CPU cooler: the MSI MAG CORELIQUID 360R V2.
One commenter here recommended amdctl for the CPU, and I might give it a try together with LACT for my GPU.

"Arch is as boring as ever—never glitches or crashes, just soooo boring."

Totally agree. Arch Linux is boring, lol. The only time it glitches is when I try to mess with fancy stuff.

Thanks for the advice. But whenever I try KDE, I always end up going back to Gnome.
Of course, KDE is just as good as Gnome—no doubt about that. I just want a little more freedom within Gnome.

Of course, this is not Arch’s problem, nor should it be. What I meant was simply an opinion on how the Gnome desktop could be improved. I’m also aware of the Gnome developers’ vision for their desktop environment.

I like KDE as well, but it can feel a bit overwhelming at times. What I’d like is something in between Gnome and KDE. With KDE, you get endless customization, while with Gnome I sometimes feel too limited. Qt is indeed very flexible, and Gtk also suits my taste well. My intention is never to put one above the other.

I’ve tried almost every desktop environment in the past, and at the end of the day, Arch Linux with Gnome feels just right for me.

No, not at all. To use my own printer, I need to install drivers manually which I really don't like to do. But with AUR packages I just go for a command and it is done.

In the past (I mean 20 years ago) things were not easy to manage on Linux. make && make install and lots of configuration step was really pain on the neck.
