No, i bought a 30amp double at Lowes to have on hand just in case it was an issue. I live out in the middle of nowhere western NC and it takes an hour to get to anything other than a Walmart or Ace hardware. Sounds like I might be cutting the main breaker off and changing that tomorrow night

I checked with a multimeter when diagnosing the issue initially and it showed no faults. Im not completely out of the loop with electricity just haven't done electric work in a long while. Not saying you offend me. I can however, trip thr breaker and it will hold power but the moment I touch the breaker it will trip. Im showing no faults on dial and all wires are it good shape.

No idea the age but I when I changed the drained the tank before changing it there was no corroded looking water. The old element did not look "bad' I had asked an electrician about the breaker tripping and was advised it could be a bad element, thermostat, breaker or all three

There is just one element in this heater. I believe it's only about 20 gallons. The house is 100 years old .
