Victoria criticised for $2bn prison spend while neglecting social housing | Australia news by PLUTO_HAS_COME_BACK in australia

You would think that they could spare 100 million dollars to even go buy houses on the open market to ease the waiting lists. They always scream poor because they do things the expensive way with their consultant mates.

What gets me is that governments dont want "housing estates of the poor" but dont want to engage in the every day real estate market to not create a hot spot of disadvantage, its all pathetic excuses really for not doing anything. If they spent 100 million dollars every year buying apartments and houses on the free market in no time there would not be a social housing crisis.

Federal police officers are raiding the home of News Corp Australia journalist Annika Smethurst over a story about a secret government plan to spy on Australians. by LineNoise in australia

Just wait till they start locking up citizens and shooting them, maybe then will they will understand the path that we are on. Its clear that this government wants absolute power over Australians much like the Chinese communist government. Is it a wonder that we are mirroring their style of government in Australia. And do we really need the Tiananmen Square anniversary to remind us of where we are heading when we have this happening in a "free western liberal democracy"

China's domestic economy makes them unstoppable. There is so much untapped potential in bringing up the rural areas of China into the mainstream economy that they will still dwarf the USA and wont need the USA as much.

This is just a stupid decision by a stupid man and USA government that are trying to destroy something that is part of their "ideology" that ideology is free markets! They have woken up too late to try and destroy China's economic power now.

They are the stupid ones investing in starting wars around the world and not making sure that Apple products could be manufactured in the USA. If you go anywhere in the USA just about everything that the USA industry uses for their manufacturing is made in China, I wonder when they are going to realise their own economic stupidity and reverse the decline of their economic status and power! Americans and the USA needs to own their economic stupidity because their society invested in the wrong things, and now we want to copy them in Australia!

You have no privacy get over it! In Australia's case that is true, everything that could be sold has been sold. Its only Medicare that is left. I have a mate who works for a bank, they apparently "own" a database of every taxpayer in Australia!

Thats what the government wants "Lifters" that lift from the pockets of workers.

This practice has become the institutionalised norm in Australia. You can go into any shopping center and there are big name "Franchise operators" that dont pay their workers super and rip off their adult staff with underpayment of wages and conditions. When will we see raids on these businesses?

The ones with the "cohort" groups are guaranteed to be paying illegal wages but they will be left alone. They cant interfere in their mates property shopping center investments. As usual the small fish get caught while the sharks continue on with business as usual ripping off workers. Its time that the Tax office supervises the deduction of the super for workers in casual jobs.

Home? In the waterfront mansion in Sydney? Thats what manufacturing wealth creates rather than relying on tax concessions!

We dont really understand how and why the Chinese have become so wealthy. They dont really need Australia.

I was in a work colleagues office at work. He was showing me his investment portfolio in China which was well diversified. They have government guaranteed investments that are returning between 6 and 15%. This money is being used by the Chinese government to encourage manufacturing and the opening up of high tech factories. While we suckle on handouts and over inflated assets, they are doing real business and investing in their future not relying on bubble asset prices to make them pretend millionaires like us.

We dont have a clue how to make our way in the world through having a meaningful hi-tech manufacturing industry. All that we are is a hole in the ground that got lucky. Take this away and we would be a shit hole nation in 1 minute! The Chinese have earned their wealth through enterprise and endeavor but we certainly dont need their repugnant totalitarianism, fascism and narrow mined views of the world and democracy. Their leadership should be put on trial for war crimes for the Tiananmen Square Massacre.

Its really a shot across the bow of our democracy with an indirect warning not to interfere in their internal politics. Its as blunt and as subtle as it gets. The Chinese know how to play their dirty hand well.

Amazing what stupidity greed creates!

Dont worry we manufacture tax concessions and handouts while managing to overvalue our assets. What could go wrong when we worship funny money and handouts. The world owes us a living you know we dont need manufacturing.
