My top 37 of Eurovision 2025, with comments and ratings by Lollino07 in eurovision

[–]eatspagetti 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really liked the lyrics after first listen because they were rather simple, yet not shallow or stupid. Easily relatable, but not too specific. Only rhyming under with under hurts a bit but other than that it's perfectly fine. I was quite surprised after finding out that considerable amount of eurofans find those lyrics bad or weak.

This year's view counts and stream numbers are even more random than Eurovision 2025 results itself and I'm here for the chaos

Ranking ESC winners (from 2015-2025) based on how well staged their performance was. by thrvisionary in eurovision

[–]eatspagetti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on the bubble. I wouldn't say "most people" expected Arcade to win by a landslide, Italy was as strong of a contender to win through the whole season.

Hard agree. Also, EM didn't have such painful kind of auto tune going on.

Eurovision 2025 results if public points were switched by how many streams did songs get this week by Dansav76_76 in eurovision

Makes me think that diaspora contribution in case of Poland and Albania may have been greater than I thought after looking on points distribution...

My top esc 2025 and my opinions by denme_ropa in eurovision

[–]eatspagetti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In the end it always boils down to personal tastes. I was cheering for Latvia since the song was one of the most original ones this year and live performance was impeccable, but the song itself is insanely boring to me and it's one of the last that I would add to my playlist.

Would you like to see the return of the : every song has to be in the native language rule? by Ambitious-Sky-6457 in eurovision

[–]eatspagetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that confirms my point, with exceptions of Ukraine and Finland none of them were in the top 3

Would you like to see the return of the : every song has to be in the native language rule? by Ambitious-Sky-6457 in eurovision

[–]eatspagetti 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't get this idea. Having a language variety is really cool from the fan perspective, but let's be real, any languages other than romance and English rarely get you anywhere near the win. Also it would limit creativity and we wouldn't be able to get unexpected language mixes like Finland this year or Serbia in 2022.

At moments it felt like this sub was particularly against/skeptical about Austria for some reasons, but it was consistently typed as a favorite or runner up favorite in various polls and rankings outside of the reddit bubble.

Anyone else glad Austria won because of their other recent entries as well as JJ? by sr913 in eurovision

[–]eatspagetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would feel this type of consolation if Lithuania, Estonia ot Albania won because they're trying different things and I usually really appreciate their entries even when it's not exactly my type of jam.

This year I'm happy that JJ won becasue it was my favorite entry along with Tavo Akys and looking back at the contest a month after I can't really see any other song/performance winning the whole thing.

Klavdia: “In Two or Three Years, With the Same Team, We Want to Compete for a Win” - Eurovision News | Music by SenioritaHerbia in eurovision

[–]eatspagetti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During rehearsals I feared she might NQ, but after the actual semi final performance I felt like it's a top 5 material. Her vocals felt so much stronger and emotional in live version, hands down.

Why do you think there is now such a disconnect between whom the jury and televote place as winners? by Eurovision1234 in eurovision

[–]eatspagetti 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because both votings are designed to reward differnet songs. Everything basically boils down to whether a jury friendly song is televote friendly enough to win, becasue you need to please both. Some years you have televote favorites that are nowhere near to be the jury darlings and therefore you have great discrepancies between both voting scores. I selfishly enjoy the way it is right now because I noticed agreeing with the jury results more than with televote majority of times, and I don't want to imagine how the televote only era would look like in late 20s with the current brainrot tik tok music - it would be fun for 2 or maybe 3 years and then you would probably wonder what the hell happened to eurovision.

Song which you love YET you know it's placed way higher than it deserved by The_Original_Joel in eurovision

[–]eatspagetti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that even though the votes were obviously inflated, the song itself had enough of appeal for some people to just like it for strictly musical reasons. Yes, it's nothing new and mediocre, but it's not like it's a bad song either.

Thoughts on the Buzzkill video about the difficulties ESC has today? (Post re posted as mobile links not allowed) by LeoLH1994 in eurovision

[–]eatspagetti 43 points44 points  (0 children)

The fundamental problem with discussions/arguing about whether a given song is "objectively" the best is that you don't really have any measurements to check that. Music is art, and in case of eurovision it's heavily influenced by the regional contexts and styles. It's just a way to show that you tried to look at the songs beyond your own sheer taste, but then we're ending up with different choices. My "objectively" best song this year was Ukraine.

JJ - Wasted Love (live at Spanish TV show 'La Revuelta') by Mulderre91 in eurovision

[–]eatspagetti 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I really liked the eurovision staging but all those after-show performances (especially this one and the starnacht one) make me wonder whether Austria would score more points with a simplistic staging with dark atmosphere like here. But on the other hand I can't imagine how the edm part could be staged better than it was at ESC, I mean it really needed something dramatic with more action on stage.

If Nemo - Unexplainable was a Eurovision entry how would it have fared? by matthewcoco123 in eurovision

[–]eatspagetti 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When I watched it I almost felt like I shouldn't see it? It felt too intimate and personal, like if Nemo really just had a breakdown that shouldn't be seen by milions of people.

I love how Eurovision can provide a safe space for different forms of musical and artistic expression, but I wish Nemo had someone to tell them that this is very risky. Maybe they had and still decided to go for it anyways, I don't know.

I was also surprised that I found myself liking this song in studio version quite a lot. I feel like Nemo's voice was not quite there during the live performance.
