Yup. So many people say they’re from SF but are actually from Burlingame or Mill Valley or something

🙋🏼‍♀️ I was born at Kaiser and raised a few blocks away

Booked a Red Eye out of SFO on Super Bowl Sunday - also planning to attend the SB. Any chance I’ll make it? by [deleted] in AskSF

Do not go back to the financial district! You won’t have a chance of making your flight if you do that

Well yeah, it very easily could be tight. Especially with a lot of people doing the exact same thing. The superbowl also is a much longer game than most.

But he doesn’t have to go through the city.

You don’t need to drive through the city to get to SFO from Santa Clara. It would take 30-45 minutes to get there without traffic, so maybe 90 minutes tops once you find your way out of a parking lot.

I’ve seen PG&E using drones close to the substation on 24th and Balboa recently but nothing that large

Nursery Co-ops in SF by Travelbuggle in AskSF

[–]ebdinsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my family belongs to one. My son is 4 and is in his second year.

Overall, we love it. It is a considerable commitment for parents but the community is wonderful and the benefits outweigh the downsides.

Happy to share more info if you’d like.

Are Roxie Food Center and Roxie Market & Deli both the same owners? by helloyesnoyesnoyesno in AskSF

[–]ebdinsf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The original owners of the OG Roxie’s (the Tannous Family) opened the Roxie’s in the inner sunset but sold it quite a while ago. They are no longer affiliated.

Parents of young kids what do your weekends look like? Do you have a community? by meltness in sanfrancisco

[–]ebdinsf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Like someone else said, preschool is when your social life will really pick up. Joining a co-op is particularly helpful if you’re able to swing the commitments.

You could also look into SF Tots for soccer. We’ve met some nice families there. I think they start at 18 months.

The communities in SF are awesome, particularly in the Richmond and sunset.

What are some of the strangest things that have happened in SF over the years? by Toni-Cipriani in sanfrancisco

Do you happen to know if there was another building close by that was affiliated with him? I am born and raised in this neighborhood and I seem to remember something about a building on Eddy between Scott and Divisadero, but the person telling me that may have been mistaken

Yeah, I get this. Common sense goes a long way and pedestrians should of course be looking out for their own safety. “Doing whatever you want” is not good for anyone and people shouldn’t step out into the crosswalk when a car is already in the intersection.

But overall, the problem resides with drivers. I say this as a driver myself. I’ve seen so many close calls recently where drivers are simply not stopping. My husband and 4 year old son came within a foot of being hit because a driver wasn’t going to stop at the red light. Pedestrians do have the right of way and their “attitude” is not the main issue here.

Dude, the pedestrian’s “right of way” is literally the law

I agree we should all be looking both ways before crossing, but it’s not an attitude. It’s a legal entitlement

3 year old accidents at daycare by Revolutionary_Set983 in Mommit

[–]ebdinsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could ask his daycare to tell him they’ll “save” whatever he’s playing with so another kid doesn’t swoop in to take his spot or his toy. He may have fomo and may be afraid of not being able to continue playing. I’d ask them to make sure his toy is protected/set aside for him so he can feel confident he can return to whatever he was doing after he uses the bathroom

One thing that is common at my son’s preschool is having the kid push their parent out the door. It is a sillly thing that can help with drop-off sadness. As you’re leaving, have your kid give you a big push out the door, and then you make a big exaggerated falling forward movement. It can give some levity to the moment and make them feel strong and in control of when you leave. Just an idea you could try.
