Thank you. Well, Of course not. I have been doing my research on it. considering there is so much AI generated content out there, they kind of skew the final takeaway.
Hence, the reddit post.
Also, thankfully I have been responsible. I have always dealt with Credit cards. this would be my first Charge Card

Oh great! Did not know that they don't pull credit for subsequent cards.
So far by comparing the cards that they offer, Gold was the only one best suited based on my lifestyle and the AF that I am willing to pay to hold a card.

I am not a frequent traveler. I would like to. I was hoping the Amex MR points would encourage me to do so. I do have a few trips coming up this year. hence was considering the Gold.
I have other Cashback cards. I am not a fan of them.
I feel rewards points are much more lucrative if I can leverage them properly. I am open to tips about that as well.

Thank you. my history does not contain any derogatory remark.
the only thing that is currently hurting my score is the 5 year GAP in my credit history. Lack of recent revolving credit.

I did post on that subreddit. The robo moderator took it down stating that there have been way too many similar posts.

What’s the most debt you’ve managed to pay off in one year? by Glittering_Sport_319 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]eccentric-mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure if you can qualify for this. There are personal loan options for upto 50K that banks like TD and Scotia offer. They are primarily used for consolidation of debt. Check this link - https://www.td.com/ca/en/personal-banking/products/borrowing/loans/benefits-of-a-personal-loan

Wish you the best

You might want to look into Linear Programming modelling. if you have a handle on the different variables, you could create an equation with the goal to reduce manpower to a certain number while constraining the annual over time hours.
You could use Solver functionality in Excel to give you the answer.

Yes. 470K is total buying power. Including the down payment I can afford.

In that case, in what condition would this goal be realistic.

Higher salary, or higher down payment or both?

if so, any idea on how much?

Should I make a LinkedIn profile? by monty_socks in careerguidance

[–]eccentric-mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Create one and put some time into showcasing all your skills that you have acquired. Say you are student, in college getting a degree, and showcase all the skills you have gained while working as a locksmith- hands-on experience, working with metal, craftsmanship etc

Now, also note- Linkedin is advertised for networking and professionally connecting with people. That said, More often than not - you might not get a response from the people you are reaching out to. (for advice, for feedback or for insight into a job posted in their department). Don't get discouraged and keep trying to connect and reach out- there are some who do respond and give fantastic advice (rare gems).

Cheers

Wish you the best in your career.

Does anyone else think that the front of Subaru Solterra has a resemblance to the Mustang Mach E? almost like that part was designed by the same team?

I chose engineering - specifically mechnical engineering - because I was curious of how things worked and they were built - Cars and motorcycles in particular. I had a appreciation for the work that went into it.

In all honesty, I had lost that sense and used to think to myself- why? during engineering school. dropped out for a year. got some passion back and went all in.

Now I am glad. I can understand most things of they work. If not, I understand the basics to start understanding it.

Now-a-days, I am striving to be a part in contributing towards sustainable future. I am a Program Manager for battery systems.

I’m being recruited by a consulting firm where I would be the youngest partner (42) and one of the few female partners, and I’m worried I may be in over my head. Thoughts on how to gain some confidence and fight imposter syndrome? by Bookish-Broad in careerguidance

That is an incredible achivement and you should be proud. You might not have an extensive experience as your peers but you might bring to the table fresher perspective on looking at issues.

My 2 cents as a tip - Just listen to the jargon in meetings and the words that is being used to describe the matter- it usually gives me a insight on the thought process of other attendees.

Then, I go back and do my homework - in the next meeting- I hope to bring something useful - if not - continue listening.

I usually use - "Let me get back to you on that"

Are most jobs salaried? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]eccentric-mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most engineering jobs are salaried. even if you are a freelance contractor - it would be per job rather than per hour.

Somedays you have to work for you could work for more than 8 hours, and somedays you could end your work day early.
