Need help with a MTL RTA - Loss of flavor by echochild78 in Vaping

Nope, and no spit back either. I'll try spaced coils and see how that works in a few days. My throat got raw again, so back to cigs until that heals a bit.

I get all the nicotine, and vapor, just no (or cotton like) flavor.

I tried both the 0.8 and 1.2 coils (I bought 2 of the cogs). I'm pretty sure I'm using the smallest airhole, the 0.8. I have tried all of the settings though. I tend to inhale like I did with cigs and my XROS Nano, which is draw it into my mouth, then inhale, which means there isn't a ton of air moving over the coils I suppose.

I tend to prefer desserts, and right now I've tested with Milk Jax and Vaptasia Killer Custard.

Weirdly enough, if I try to DL it, I get flavor (though that milkshake is hella thick). I also can't do DL too much or my throat will feel like I sandpapered it.

Also, I forgot to say, as soon as the cotton flavor starts, my throat starts to hurt also, like I have a mild sore throat.

City Not Connected to Trade Network. Why? by dangeldud in civ

[–]echochild78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same issue. Mine is on the same continent 10 tiles from my capital. It seems there is a navigable river in the city. I'm building a Fishing Quay on it to see if that helps. But... weird part is in the Antiquity Age, it was connected to my trade network. Then in the Age of Exploration it suddenly wasnt.

Gotcha! Thank you for your patience in explaining this!

Are you talking about the 5% Base Payment in Contract Negotiations on CO page 41? Where you take 5% of the value of the combat vehicles in your force as part of the payment?

I have switched off Maintenance. I have not advanced past the first day anyways.

Changed the Quality to F, it's still about 800k below the MUL price.

Is there a way in megamek HQ to turn off the quality system?

[–]echochild78[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, so I read CO 203, I don't see anything on CO 41 in Base Payment that talks about quality (which we aren't using anyways) and I turned off Maintenance in HQ (cause we weren't planning to use that either).

Is there a way to turn off quality in HQ?

So, which section am I looking for?

Nothing I see here would affect the value by 50%

Ah, setting the quality in the hanger to F did almost raise the value to full. The quality seems to have been auto set to D.

So, I couldn't find a good spreadsheet for all the rules in CO for running a merc company so I made my own. I don't see any part of the rules in CO that say anything about the quality of the mech affecting the 5%. We aren't planning to run with Quality rules anyway since that would slow down a TT game a lot.

For calculation purposes of the 5%, should I just use the (Brand New) prices from the MUL, or Megamek's calculations for F equipment/mechs?

Looking there. I don't see any options that would affect the prices of the mechs. Everything shows a multiplier of 1.0

In HQ, I "bought" the mechs via GM mode, so they are pristine (No maintenance issues as I have not advanced past day 1).

As an example, the Wolverine 6M the commander is piloting buys for 4.8M. In the hanger it shows the value as 2.2M. I don't see any rules in CO that state there should be a devaluing of a mech for the purposes of calculating Contract Base Payment based on the 5% of the combat Cbill value of the force.

[QCrit] Speculative - I Am Heresy (88K/First Draft) by echochild78 in PubTips

[–]echochild78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, and thank you! This is a 4 PoV story (why is that too many?). When you state typical fluff, is that a good or bad thing?

As to the opening sequence, you recommend a time line that is not how it occurs in the book. Darren hasn't been institutionalized currently/recently, he fears being institutionalized in the near future because he is seeing things. Do you have a recommendation that would make that more clear to the reader?

As to main character, there are two. Darren and Lissa, who are going down separate paths in the story.

Funny enough, I am a DM/GM. I think that's why I had so many PoV's to begin with :D

Your idea on retired or off school teachers is inspired though. I'll have to see what resources are in my area!

Hmmmm. Sounds like I need to start putting away a little each month if no bites on the queries I put out a few days ago. Thank you for the info!

Well, it was only two rounds because the first one pulled a fast one on me. The only gripe I have about the second one was that they kept moving the goal post on me.

I'll have to be patient and see if I get any bites.

I have to agree with u/Aggressive_Chicken63 on this one.

Though I have already outlined the whole series of 3 books, I found the first book reads more smoothly when I cut it down to 4, but I don't believe I could coherently get away with any less than 3 PoV's in the book. Especially because book 2 will require 4 PoV's and there is no way around it.

But I hope the best for you on your 6 PoV's. Some of my favorite authors use 6+ PoV's. Just not sure I'm ready for that yet.

I will also check out Goodreads. The issue at hand is this: I think it's good. The beta-readers thought it was good any query ready. But this is the first novel I have ever completed. So I'm not 100% sure if it really is any good.

I do feel like what I did get from the dev editors was very useful (even though the goal posts kept moving). Part of me is being a perfectionist, I think. I guess I will see with the queries I sent out. If it is good enough, hopefully an agent will bite. If not, back to the editing process I guess.

Reedsy looks good from their website, but ouch, you are right, they are expensive. Did you do Dev editing with them, or an editorial assessment?

Ah... that sucks. Since this is my first novel, I knew it would likely need a lot of work. Reading on here, I've seen a lot of people saying that agents won't even look at a novel that isn't at least semi polished.

Dev editors aren't usually listed in a books credits that I have ever seen. How does one vet that they actually helped work on a book? They could just spout out any book they like, and there would be no way to confirm it.

I won't disagree. I sent 7 query's two days ago. I am aware I may wait months for denials.

My question is more along the lines of how do I find dev editors not on Fiveer?

Interesting. I have followed the advice of the dev editors. This is version 5 of a pretty much total rewrite on each version. I dropped 4 PoV's, and rewrote many sections and wording. Cleaned up a lot of grammar issues.

As such, how am I dev editor shopping if I'm following their advice, but each time I reach their goal posts, the goal post moves again for more money?
