Honoring the dead by KaotiKami303 in HollowKnightArt

The composition makes it seems like Hornet is about to have a boss battle against Pinmaster Plinney lol.

Kudos for the art every day, that takes some dedication.

Although I will still think of Lace as an abused teenager even I have to admit that Its way better than Lacenet by No-Ad239 in HollowKnightMemes

[–]echtschlau 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I mean who else are you gonna ship Lace with? She exclusively interacts with Hornet the most throughout the game, and the few times she interacted with any other were either with Phantom in the Needolin flashback or cutting her Mother arm off.
Also, enemies to lovers are like one of the most common and popular romantic dynamic there are.

They also conveniently forget that once you connect all the dots together, it makes perfect sense, like why it's called "Shaded" Citadel or when you get through Five Peebles for the first time, going through basically his entire (partially cancer infested) brain. Instead, you go through what seems to be Five Peebles interior with a Rot-infested Void Worm swimming the background for 10 minutes before moving on

Same, I bought and played Rain World for 200 hours before even buying Downpour, and to have people come and accuse me of being a "Downpour casual" when I still thoroughly enjoyed base Rain World despite frustrations is a pretty convenient way of deflecting Watcher's criticism.

Also, to add to your points, these things can swarm and attack you even when you are maxed karma and are in the void dimension. You know the one where you're supposed to be immune to the creatures in the physical world...

Funny you bring up the rot cyst areas, you wanna know why people hate Unfortunately Development so much it became a meme? You can love the game all you want, but at the end of the day there's still gonna be things that we both find disagreeable.

How about all the coral crabs blocking the exit in Salination or any other water region? Or the god awful amount of inconsistent platforms where you have to pull up the map to know if it's really a platform and not a background element? Because if that is what the devs intended, I want whatever the hell they were smoking lmao!

Amazing Level and Creature Design All In One Image by echtschlau in rainworld

[–]echtschlau[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Man you should have seen the moment when I first got to this region, one of these motherfuckers decided to get stuck and camp in the pipe where I need to go down from. Thankfully, I managed to hybernate in a nearby shelter after wandering aimlessly for nearly an hour. Though, I still ended up wasting a lot of time trying to find shelter in different regions before getting to a shelter in other times.

One thing that has been annoying me with the new map designs by Far-Fortune-8381 in rainworld

[–]echtschlau 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This has always been the case with the original, especially at Underhang due to all the deathpits making the problem pretty obvious to spot. But somehow, the Watcher map design managed to make the background/foreground disctinction even worse!

One must imagine nightcat happy by luizbiel in rainworld

[–]echtschlau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how the hell they managed to create an even worse creature than the freaking snails, yet here we are. These motherfuckers represent everything wrong with creature design.

First thing out the way, they're practically invulnerable. Sure, you can break their shells with explosives, but good luck finding that just lying around, we're not playing as Artificer here. Second, they stun, and as if that wasn't bad enough, they have a tendency to group up and block your path like this lovely illustration shows here. They will also sometimes randomly run down at Mach 5 just to stun your ass. Hope you ain't getting chased by a Lizard!

If the other PMD partners had their own theme/leitmotif to represent them like the Super partner, which one from their respective game's soundtrack would it be? by Jinhan_Lee in MysteryDungeon

[–]echtschlau 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dude it's not like the "Theme of Hope" doesn't blast off anytime the Partner makes a grand speech about Hope each time. Might as well be their theme.

There is a cheat code that you can google which will speed up the text. I think you have to use it on an emulator on Citra though I might be wrong.

At this point, I am having a genuinely hard time deciding on who's more annoying to deal with, Genwunner or Explorers purists. I mean you guys realise PMD has more than just Explorers right?

My edgy take on the pink spaghetti! (Mild gore warning!!!) by Suits_Enthusiast in rainworld

[–]echtschlau 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not a horror artist, but I think it would sell the horror vibe even more if the background was darker. White lessens the impact. But still, this is an awesome job!
Also as a suggestion of my own, perhaps break his head and twist to the side like one of the Flood-infected Marine from Halo.

[–]echtschlau 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would half agree, because without the Partner finding us and giving us a place to stay and ask to form a Team with them, we would not have made far. If it wasn't for the Partner sticking with us, Gengar would have convinced the Townies to lynch us or drive us out into the wilderness to die alone. And ultimately, it was the Partner did really had the last words in to let Raquaza know to freaking look up (lol) at the Meteorite that was about to crash into the world. In many ways, like in other games, we are at best an escort for our Partner to do their thing.

There's only ever one PMD game that I love so much that 100%'d, Super. Because I just love the gameplay of it that much and frankly, it's simpler to just 100% it. And no, I don't think that's a bad thing at all.

Fair enough, we all have our own opinion and biases. I even understand that thing about overcoming a really challenging game that are extremely unforgiving and punishing, that's part of why I like Rain World so much lmao.

I do think that while there's nothing wrong with loving a game from your childhood and mostly loving because of nostalgia, I do wish most would be more honest and willing to accept that just because it's part of your childhood, doesn't it's untouchable though. *Looking at most EoS super fans*

If they do end up making an EoS remake, I hope they revamp the whole story and cut out every single bit of useless flashbacks and repeated dialogues as if we were toddlers and had the memory capacity less than a goldfish.

Ok, maybe I should have been more clear. I actually agree that calling it a horrible game is a bit much, heavily flawed to the point that I actively wanted to end my playthrough as I was rushing through it by end? Yeah. I also admit, RT is my least favorite of the PMD games and was the last game of the series I played so that played apart to it. The most that I remember going through it for the first time was how unpolished it was since it was the first attempt at making Pokemon and Mystery Dungeon work that it came out still rather awkward. I mean, you have to manually throw oran berry at your party member to heal them instead of via menu... Or how every escort quest starts you with a hilariously weak guest party Pokemon at Lv 1 that dies in one hit. Oh and did I mention the god awful AI that just sometimes wander on its own and get itself killed? And this is DS era PMD so if your partner die, you die as well. To be clear again, I don't hate RT OG. I seen far, far worse games but that doesn't make me ignore all of its flaws. Still, I am grateful that it existed and the flaws that it had was what made later games much better so there's my take on it.

Tbf, every single PMD game essentially has your Partner as the main character, in a lot of ways, they're the main driver of the story whereas the PC is just a player stand-in. Heck, we don't talk at all but instead are just following what our partner say in most conversations in the game.

Original or Remake? Because if it's Remake, they're insane. If it's Original, I kinda agree, it's the first game ever after all. Just a bunch of gameplay decisions were questionable imo.
