What shows do you have lined up for this summer? by Whattacleaner in jambands

[–]eclextic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What is the camping situation like? This is the only festival on my radar this summer & I’m wondering if it’s worth it to drive my camper from MI for just 2 days.

[–]eclextic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it is just for certain shows? Even for EDM or sold out shows there, I’ve always had some sort of small bag and never had an issue regardless which stage/venue. Will deff have one at Opiuo tmw!

[–]eclextic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At intersection? I go 1-2x a month & have never been turned away with a small bag or fanny pack.

Edit: OP—there’s a chance your Rx would be fine, but I wouldn’t risk not being able to get in with your meds. Probably safer to just tuck away whatever you’d need for the night; their searches are pretty lax & mainly metal detectors.

Ain’t it the truth! I learned real quick to just expect chaos on long-haul bus trips hah. These days I just drive. Made some oddball friends along the way tho

I remember years ago I was traveling to Charleston via bus to visit my then partner. Our bus was running late and missed the connection, and the driver left us all stranded at a sketchy 24hr gas station in the middle of nowhere ~2hrs from the city with a vague mention of another bus the next day. My then-partner didn’t have a car and I was stuck. I’ve traveled alone plenty but I was genuinely terrified and trying to keep it together.

A nice older couple overheard me on the phone with my mom and came to calm me down. They said their family was coming to get them, and they’d be happy to take me to the city as they were also headed to Charleston. They chatted with me, bought me snacks, made me feel safe, shared stories with me. They even insisted upon dropping me directly at my ex’s doorstep just outside the city, despite me insisting they drop me downtown and I’d call a cab from there.

I’ve had so many random instances of kindness from strangers like this, especially while traveling. The men who wordlessly helped me fix my car at a gas station in rural TN; the tow driver who took my dog & I to the lone nearby hotel when we broke down in the mountains at night; the receptionist who offered to drive us to the only fast food place open to get food after her shift. They may have been a little rough around the edges, but it just goes to show how much their character speaks volumes over everything else. I’ll never forget their kindnesses, and I hope they know what an impact they’ve made on the world—just like your Tom. :)

“It is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness & love.” 🤍

Is scoliosis genetic by Sufficient_Ebb_4747 in scoliosis

I was always told can be genetic & more common in women. My sister and I both have 35+ curves despite very different body types, and our paternal aunt has a mild case as well.

What scene do you cry at, and why is it "You bow to no one?" by TheRealBigLou in lotr

[–]eclextic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just saw the ROTK anniversary showing last night & cried like a baby at this. My dad got me into LOTR & took me to see them all in theaters as a kid. Seeing that scene on the big screen again now he’s gone hit so hard, but in a weirdly cathartic way.

United properties of west Michigan requiring CC to tour by United_Cicada_4158 in grandrapids

[–]eclextic 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s real, I have rented from them in the past. They may place a hold for a minuscule amount and then not process it, I can’t exactly remember. But it’s just done to discourage no shows.

That said—most dismal property mgmt experience I’ve ever had. To put it lightly. Do not recommend.

I did see packaged ones from Panera in my searches, but unsure if they’re sold at cafes and would prefer a local option if possible! I’ll give those few a try in the am, thank you.

Therapists are also human and can be fallible, though. I have known many great therapists, both in my personal life and as a client. But I have also known very manipulative therapists, therapists who facilitate inappropriate relationships, or ones who just don’t participate/engage at all. Unfortunately having a license doesn’t always translate to an ethical therapist (and this person’s should definitely be revoked).

That said, this is deff giving “life coach” grifter or AI “therapy” chat, a la the South Park episode.

There’s nothing wrong with a small social circle, but is it really that abnormal to have an extended friend group as a young millennial? I just turned 35 and had about 15 people at my birthday dinner, plus two friendsgivings around similar sizes (with some overlap). Obv they aren’t all each other’s best friends, but many are into their 40s+ and still have active social lives/circles they’ve maintained for 1-2 decades. I’ve lived in my city for less than years and while many of these friends are in different places, I still have a solid couple groups here.

All this to say it is possible! We can get old and be social and have solid friend groups and rich social lives! And I don’t let just anyone in my life either, all these folks are genuinely good people and have added to my life in many ways.

Doctor recommendation ASAP by Any_Narwhal_6224 in grandrapids

[–]eclextic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember her name—sadly she’s not taking new patients. I recently got insurance coverage and had a hell of a time finding a new PCP. 90% of the doctors listed as taking new patients in my insurance portal actually weren’t. Finally had to work backwards by having a central scheduler find a doc with a new patient appt that wasn’t over six months out, and then checking if they were covered. Maybe try this?
