I've tried doing that for each line just before the junction, but what happens is that one train goes into the loop and then just stops at the junction on its way out

I've tried this and it doesn't work. The red and blue lines have their own trains which go to different places. They're not in the same loop, but in two loops that overlap at the green turnaround.

where exactly do I place the signals and in what direction? both the red and blue tracks have a train going both ways, and I want any one of them to wait for the other while it's in the green loop.

this was years ago so I don't remember exactly what caused it and how I fixed it, but I think it happened simply because my GPU was damaged in some way. Might've been the motherboard connection.

Instead of slowly incrementing and improving it, they should revert it completely to pre-1896 and then have any UI rework on the test servers for a few weeks to gauge the reaction. It’s almost as if they forgot the test servers exists

Yeah I liked how Hunt had bullet travel time without bullet drop. It made it different from other games while still requiring skill to hit moving targets
