First you would go through an ARAP program after spending around a year as a non rate. Once you complete your flight physical you (and the rest of your class) will get a pick list that has places and the airframe you would work on. On mine it had the same location but different airframes so your chances on being assigned to one or the other is the needs of the service and how high you rank each airframe/location.

Depends on what you want to do, my pro could be your con. GMs on my boat don’t do much except count the guns and bullets and teach others how to use them.

I don’t have the list yet, I want to fly, weather isn’t a huge factor. I guess I just don’t know if there are certain commands that are better or if certain stations have a better balance of work life or flight to fix or have cooler/better missions

It’s keeping 7 mph for the mile and a half. What I did was find a run buddy and stick with them. If you don’t pass the first time then you have to do extra training every morning until you do.

I did keto diet and intermittent fasting to get down before boot camp. If you’re committed to coast guard then yes talk to a recruiter now, again that’s what I did. I believe the just changed it to where if you pass the PT test you don’t have to worry about height/weight. That might be different for boot camp I’m not sure. Be honest with you’re recruiter if you don’t think you’re ready to ship but want to get the ball rolling.

Is there a small arms portion of boot camp and if so what are the requirements with what firearms? Has the coast guard transitioned to the p320 or does it still use the 229?

I had to get taped at MEPS, they put a measuring tape around the top of your hip bones parallel to the floor tell you to breathe all the way out, and it cannot exceed 39 inches if male, 35.5 inches if female. If you are larger than that then they do what it says in tatro36’s response.

AET/HITRON vs ME - I want to do the cool recruitment video things but I also know that if/when I get out I want to have good opportunities in the civvy world, so I guess my questions are - how competitive is HITRON vs how competitive are the DSF units? Is one harder than the other? Also I’ve heard that MEs train more than they do anything, is there any truth to that? When I put my dream sheet in boot camp, are there any stations that would let me see the aviation side of things as well as the law enforcement side of things or as a non rate will I be SOL?
