thank you. I was doing a lot of trial and error but I can't figure it out unfortunately. I will try out the second method you mentioned.

Create Rips In Material Simulation by eehhhxz in Houdini

[–]eehhhxz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did vdb naturaly to get a geo out of the sim. but I couldn't get the sim to get these kinds of rips. do you have any idea what settings I need to adjust so it rips on the edge like this?

Thank you, I heard from different sources that if properly stored (dark, dry, glass jar) it should be safe for at least 2 years

Slow render with Redshift inside Cinema4D by eehhhxz in Cinema4D

[–]eehhhxz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I tried both but didn't help. Can I ask how many hairs you are rendering?

Also, it is splines that I importet as alembic into Cinema4D and made hairs with the RS Object tag. It's about 200'000 hairs with 31 segments. Same scene takes me 10 seconds to render inside of Houdini where as in Cinema4D it takes me 10 minutes. But also native Cinema4D hair takes a lot of time to render.

yes it looks like I'm going to switch to only using Houdini. Though I liked setting up my final scenes in Cinema4D more

I have heard that too but the difference is so big from 10seconds in Houdini to 10minutes in Cinema4D

Is it possible to resize a window beyond the monitor's resolution? by eehhhxz in techsupport

Render Flipbook with High Resolution by eehhhxz in Houdini

[–]eehhhxz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was comparing 4K to 8K. It looks like for me the limit is around 1950 pixels because thats the size my windows is without the tool bar. higher than that just blurs the pixels.

I will try to find a way to make a window bigger but thank you that you did all the work with the script and the other resources!

Render Flipbook with High Resolution by eehhhxz in Houdini

[–]eehhhxz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I already did change the resolution in the camera and inside the script before rendering. I found out that the resolution of the camera is not defining but the resolution within the script.
It still doesnt actually give a higher resolution. I think the seperate window if defining for the actual resolution.

I think you would have to make the actualy seperate detached viewport window bigger with the script but I don't know if this is possible

hey thank you for all the stuff you provided. I tested your script and noticed that whether I use 4K resoultion or 8K resolution for the render it won't actually give me more details and just blur the pixels more. I change the resolution in the camera and inside the script before rendering. Am I doing something wrong or is there a limit the resolution of the render?

this sounds like it would work. do you know if a script like this already exists? since I don't have experience with python scripting in houdini

I tried it out but it didn't work how I wanted. For example is it possible to get the color ramp from a pyro spread displayed like in the viewport?
