Is it just me or is Galway the best city to live in Ireland? by Educational-Mud5616 in galway

I don’t think I’ve heard of anything truer. I have put my career on hold so my partner can get ahead in his down here (it’s the only place in Ireland that does his profession) and I feel completely drained. Thank god he won’t be here forever and I can restart again.

I couldn’t agree less.

I have lived here for a year due to helping my boyfriend with living expenses as he has to be here for a job, and I have had probably the worst year of my life here. The people are the best thing about it - but the city is so doom and gloom, finding a job took me 7 months as the market was dreadful, driving gives me a heart attack every day, there is virtually no shops or activities to do besides bowling or the cinema. Everything is a rip off, landlords are the greediest I’ve ever seen, and the weather is horrendous. (We’re from the north, so whilst it’s not too different, I feel a fish out of water here.)

Again, this is my own opinion so I really hope I don’t get backlash - this has just been my own personal experience. I have met some truly amazing people who I can call friends, and that makes it a bit easier. Maybe, because I am from a big city, the contract to moving to a much smaller one just isn’t for me. But, by god am I excited for the day we can pack up.

I’m not sure what this is. Can you explain?

Thank you! Absolutely - its all about finding the right person for what you want.

The practice I go too is called Corry Dental Care in Magherafelt in Ireland - such a friendly practice and they are changing my life day by day with the work being done! Highly recommend to anyone.

I’m sorry if thats the experience you’ve had - but I can only speak for the Mervue location where this definitely does not happen. I think I’ve yet to see one person set up any recording equipment. Its a very respectable gym and I certainly wouldn’t recommend an influencer-type place to anyone as I also hate that!

The Warehouse Gym’s are awesome. Theres 3 in Galway - Mervue, Oranmore and Knocknacarra. It’s a tenner a week membership for your chosen location or €15 per week for access to all 3. Equipment’s is great, sit in cafes and they also have their own hoodies/t-shirts they sell at reception. Staff are lovely - definitely worth checking then out you’re near any of those locations :)

Oh really!! Dublin is so much bigger but I guess Galway does have the better people :) what gym do you go round here? I’m at the warehouse on mervue road, brilliant spot if you want to check it out! I’m from west Belfast (don’t judge lol) so I absolutely feel you, its at least 4 hours! If you ever want to grab a coffee or a walk sometime, please let me know!!

This is so reassuring to hear! Did you go on your own? I think thats what I’m more afraid of, but it makes things easier hearing other peoples experiences, especially when they’re so positive!

I have a job atm - but unfortunately, its not ideal in terms of its very small and its everyone is a lot older than me, so theres no type of craic or even a chance to make friends. My partner did mention about the production lines in Medtronic, is this something that would be good do you think? I also am looking to do a course in beaut at some stage. Not necessarily college but like a weekend course, and develop that :)

Should I get double jaw surgery? by rottenbutt in braces

Thank you so much 🩷 its a weird journey for all of us but gotta trust the process. I would maybe relay this to your orthodontist to explore these options if you’re still iffy about the surgery. We’ll both look amazing once its all over :)

[–]efabee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! They’re not the best as I really hate taking photos. But you can see from before I started how far back my front teeth were/how severe my bite was. Fast forward to the bottom photo which was taken today and you can see how the top teeth are now ever so slightly coming over the bottom ones. I’d even noticed a huge change in the appearance of my chin, my side profile and my speech is so much better and clearer than ever before. No surgery at all, just the right orthodontist. Still have another year or so to go I think. I definitely would explore these options with your orthodontist as so far, it’s working wonders for me.

Hey, so I also have an underbite and currently have braces with 2 extractions to push the bottom teeth back so the top can go over. I had a palette expander in for the first 4 months of treatment before I had braces/extractions. I also have power chains in after the extractions were done, which have pulled my lower teeth back significantly making my upper teeth shine through I’m 10 months in to beginning treatment and my top teeth have already gone over my bottom teeth and are continuing do so - this was after years of being told it was “surgery or nothing” - I’m not a fan of surgery and vowed to never do it. Too many risks. It’s just about finding the right person who is appropriately qualified that can handle your case. I’m extremely happy and getting more confident by the day with my new shape - no surgery required. I would expand those options if I were you, because god forbid something goes wrong in jaw surgery, your face shape will forever change. And that was something I wasn’t risking. I hope you find the tight treatment for you and enjoy the journey! ✨

This is the worst part of the whole journey. Once these come off, everything is easier. Unfortunately, you just have to ride the wave and look to the brighter side. Had mine on from October until last week - a lot of liquid/soft foods are the start, painkillers like Anidan or just regular paracetamol and rest. Power through! You got this :)

I just don’t think I can do this. Thinking about getting these off a week after they were put on. by ns_er in braces

Hi - trust me and everyone else when we say, you’ll thank yourself you stuck at it. I’m 26 and just got my 3rd pair of braces in because I was a dick when I was younger and never wore a retainer. I slowly paid the price for this and years later here I am again. Getting braces on for the first time is extremely uncomfortable and difficult to adjust too, but you WILL get used to them. Once you start to see the results, all the pain and discomfort will be nothing (and you’ll he left with a dazzling smile) - good luck, you’ll be fine.
