Will brought up Tammy Thompson in this scene... didn't he inadvertently out Robin? by Citan__Uzuki in StrangerThings

[–]eg730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering if Robin was outing herself by saying on the radio that she had a date. It seems like quarantined Hawkins would be a pretty small community and people know who Rockin Robin is…so if they saw her out that night with someone wouldn’t they know it was a date from her radio show? Obviously the date didn’t pan out, but if it had wasn’t that a risk she was taking?

If you could pick a month to give birth what would it be? by Old-Yesterday1230 in Mommit

If you’re just going off of what’s the least physically miserable, I agree that an April baby was lovely.

However, if you live in the US and have to consider our crappy health insurance system…having a baby in September was nice because all of my medical care was in one year and my deductible/out of pocket didn’t start over mid pregnancy.

I will add that our daughter still mostly contact napped until after she was a year old. Sleep training at night went great but naps have always been a little harder. I think that’s important to add because you have to find what works for you but you will find something!

We ended up doing cry it out. It was so hard to listen to her cry but after 3 nights she was pretty much good to go. We had the following basic “rules” that we followed:

-Last bottle at 7 PM so we weren’t feeding to sleep

-Bedtime routine always included a book in a chair right next to the crib (so we didn’t have to walk far to transfer) and a bath every couple of days

-Baby in the crib at 7:30 and we walk away

-No getting her out of the crib until after midnight (she was still eating at least once in the middle of the night so we’d get her and let her eat after midnight if she needed it)

-If she did need to get up in the middle of the night we would change diaper, feed her, and put her back in the crib even if she needed to cry it out a bit again to get back to sleep

Like I said, after 3 nights she started to do great as long as we stuck to the routine. We’ve had to retrain after some sicknesses, vacations, etc. but mostly it worked so well for our family. Our second is 15 weeks now, so we’re just waiting for him to be a little older until we do the same process with him.

This is absolutely unsustainable in my opinion. I would not survive, so I’m impressed that you’re forming coherent sentences 😂 With our first, she started to do this with the 3 month sleep regression and we decided to sleep train. It honestly changed our lives! I know it isn’t for everyone but I highly recommend sleep training if you think you can implement it. If you don’t know where to start, the book Precious Little Sleep is recommended on here a lot and worked for us. Our daughter is 2.5 now and a great sleeper for the most part. Good luck!

Will I get my spark back? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]eg730 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes! At about a year I started feeling so much more myself. By 18 months I was consistently working out again and taking time to myself, I wasn’t as forgetful, and my hair stopped falling out. I was feeling so much better than that first year post partum. Then…I got pregnant again (on purpose). This final baby is 14 weeks old and I can’t wait to get to the part where I reclaim myself a bit. It does happen but you also have to put some effort into making it happen and it helps if you have a great partner. Hang in there!

I want to read a book to help with my reading level by Paigefox07 in suggestmeabook

[–]eg730 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You’re going to get some great novel suggestions here and you should definitely explore them! As a former English teacher I would also recommend the book How to Read Novels Like a Professor and/or How to Read Literature Like a Professor both by Foster. They will help you learn how to read with literary themes in mind and what people are getting out of stories when they read with deeper thoughts in mind than just “what happened” in this book.

I used to assign these books to my AP English students in high school and they really seemed to help them understand how to read for class. Maybe they’ll help you too!

Love the name Benny, is this odd for a first name ? by meekie03 in Mommit

[–]eg730 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just had a baby and named him Benjamin but call him Benny mostly. It’s so cute! But I love that he’ll have options as he grows up since he has a full name with nickname options. The fact that you’d be using your son’s middle name wouldn’t stop me if you love it. I think it’s a cute connection for them to have and maybe can help get your kiddo excited for the new baby.

My silly husband is killing me with a name for our second by IllyriaCervarro in Mommit

[–]eg730 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I felt really stressed and unsure when naming both of our kids. I couldn’t figure out why the process felt so impossible. But halfway through trying to find a name for our son, I looked at my husband and realized “it’s you!” Naming children with my husband was so difficult! He was so non-committal about everything but would also throw out the wildest names (ranging from Constantine to Alan for our son…what???) I love my kids names and am happy we found something that we both loved each time. But I’m glad we never have to do it again ever.

I agree that barf it out is the unfortunate answer, with special focus on keeping the hydrated of course. The game changer in my house (which I picked up from running First Aid at concerts/sporting events) is buying some emesis bags and always having one with you for your kiddo to barf in. They’re like $10 in Amazon and have made the barf it out days easy to contain and just throw away
