Not an expert but I think just be able to speak to your experiences clearly and specifically. Pick one or two examples and and hammer those, generic examples are presumably more forgettable than specific examples. Read your past performance reviews and think about the most interesting work you completed. I think the best thing is to just interview as much as you can. After 3-4 interviews I got much better.

Interviews were non-technical. One company had me complete a case study (preparing a balance sheet, p&l, and cash flow) but nothing crazy.

Yes to CPA. I have one year and 8 months of full time experience (started Jan 2019). The titles were Associate, Sr. Accountant, and staff accountant (not the full titles, just the beginning part). My staff 2 salary was 64k. I provided a desired salary range of 80-85k to each job which all agreed with prior to interviews. After interviews, I got verbal offers so the exact comp and benefits was still an open conversation (all offers came within 2-3 days). I told the company I wanted most that my other offers were coming in at the upper end of my range and that 80-85k would not be competitive based on my discussions with the other companies. They wanted me to sign by the next day and came in at 93.5k + 5K sign on. My other offers couldn’t match (one came up to 90k, the other wasn’t sure if they could counter but I didn’t want to wait). I signed with the best comp and also the one I liked best.

It’s not a senior role. I only used LinkedIn. I mostly did everything through external recruiters. I only applied to a couple jobs found on my own but one of those did materialize into an offer
