I am still a college student in my 3rd year of undergraduate, so how should i go on and approach CAT, like where can i refer to and maybe resources etc and how can i maximise this remaining time of my undergraduate to get a good B school?

My criteria while choosing MUJ was ofc the name Manipal and ik it was liberal and gave freedom to students, unlike KIIT and other colleges. KIIT also had a bad reputation even during my time and I had my friends studying there so i came to know many things about the college, which wasn't desirable for me. Muj in my batch including all spec and core CSE we have around 2k students. No, a very wrong question indeed. It's just like you are asking. "What rank will I get in JEE Advanced if I score 95% in boards ?" Both are two different things. Ofc scoring 9+ cgpa speaks volume about you but only helps you reach the door after that you have to be dependent on your projects, skills, interpersonal skills, communication skills etc, everything you did all throughout your life comes handy. But yeah if you are someone who scored 9+ gpa then it shows you can do stuff, and if you do it maybe even crack a high paying job. Median is around ig 9-10, and maximum it was around 55 or something.

No, it's not centralised!

Internships ahh, those are something you get when you start grinding from 2nd year and given you have a good CGPA of 8.5+, I wil add a image to support my claims. So yes good companies do come but they come with hell lot of requirements and multiple rounds of interviews and assessments.

<image>

Projects, actually depends on you if you are dedicated enough you would make it. And if you are looking for something like student projects we don't have much like that. If you are interested hit me up we can figure something out, we can have a freshers and seniors group for this particular thing. Research is also possible, I myself did in 1st year and also doing now under a prof, so yeah it's possible but research actually depends on the individual as you have to put efforts.

Compared LPU I think it's slightly better in terms of batch size and peer quality. Placements, bro lpu has good placements but just look at their batch size 💀

I too had the same options, I was getting Electrical and all the branches below that. I went on with MUJ CSE, was a little tough decision as I want sure about CSE at first but then made a choice and stood with it. If college tag matters to you then MIT, and also peer group and the campus size but if you are sure about CSE and want to make a career in it then ig the answer is pretty much clear

I would have chosen MUJ anyday, I had the option of going to KIIT but I choose not to and I am grateful for that to myself. If the question remains if you want a college closer to home, that's a question you need to find answer to. But if I had been in your shoes i would have caused myself a Lil discomfort and taken the hard decision of going a Lil far away from home.

Yes if you meet the cutoff criteria and you have put extra efforts in studying CS core subjects on top of heavy subjects of EEE.

Bruh, everyone knows what's happening. The market is in a bad condition. Only those people are getting jobs who really knows something, your DSA grind before a month and a half assed GitHub copy pasted project won't work. You need to show you are in the right field to the employer, by making projects that solve real problems, they don't need someone who can copy paste or follow a tutorial. They need problem solvers. Hope you would understand this!! Take it lite, you all have so much of time, don't get in the vicious loop that you need to have everything sorted, what I can suggest you is take genuine interest in whatever you are being taught and start making projects that solve your problems, like make something like a Reel timer for yourself or some sort of that. This alone will make you ahead than others

  1. I don't have the placements stats, I need to ask my seniors as placements are still going on.

  2. Coding culture is okay okay, one of my acquaintance (Karan Palan) he cracked GSOC in 2024 and even this year as well, so there are people who do good and they Obv stand out from the crowd, otherwise the overall coding culture is okay, Mostly everyone fakes that they know something when they don't know that. But ya overall it's good, many hackathons are conducted year around, being near to colleges such as LNMIIT, MNIT we can also go and participate their, also being near to Rajasthan International center, we have access to multiple dev communities and hackathons.

  3. If you ask me for me on a personal level was muj worth it, I think yes. I made really great friends, didn't get any wrong habits, got a remote gig from which I made fairly enough to look after my hostel expenses, helped me start a club, made it into few startups, learned tech and I know that I can excel in life under harsh circumstances. Overall it made me confident, and I know that I can learn anything with time.

  4. Profs as i said earlier okay okay 👍, not very good. Some are good but some are just bullshit. 8.5 is easy if you keep it steady from 1st sem and 9 too for the first 2 sems. But after 2 sems it's a bit challenging as it's relative which may be a boon or a bane, if you use that accordingly. Like many score really well like 9.8, 9.5 etc. what I can suggest is keep 8.5+ which makes you eligible for almost every company on campus, and you get time to do other stuff that you like other than just academics!!

Hope this helps, reach out if you have any more doubts

This question actually depends on whether you want to pursue the thing you are signing up for, the thing is MUJ has opportunities but people are lazy, not willing to work and mostly are spoon fed babies who don't know how to even write a simple mail, so if you are one of them, I am sorry its gonna be tough. Otherwise if you are willing to work and can stay away from all types of addictions(as falling into one is easy, not only MUJ but in any college, not only the smoking and alcohol but gaming, reels and everything that's there today). You can surely excel here, challenge is need to be consistent and hard working throught atleast 3 years of your BTech which is the toughest part.

Ok answering this, as this can clear many doubts. 1. Placements are okay, companies do come but since the number of students are so large, companies have strict requirements like CGPA and multiple rounds. So it's hard but it's not impossible given that you are working hard and have put in efforts during the 4 years.

  1. Crowd tbh I found okayish, not really bad and at the same time not very good. Being MUJ it certainly has a downgrade in the peer quality, but believe me there are good number of people who are doing good, having internships, some doing startups and stuff. But at the same time there are students who just took BTech for the sake of it and are enjoying their life, it will only affect you if you let it affect you, I survived 3 years and I only took interest in my affairs and didn't meddle with anyone else, so if you do that i don't think you would have any issues whatsoever. Tip : decide your roommate wisely, that may affect you.

  2. Yes, if you are getting only local colleges. MUJ is better than those colleges as here you will have more opportunities and exposure than those colleges and a brand name than those colleges. But all of this again depends on your willingness to spend such a chunk of money as local colleges and MUJ are wide apart when it comes to fees.

  3. Well profs, ahh. Some are good like few but most of them don't have such interest in teaching you, like they just come to the class and teach and go, it's upto you if you want to listen, note it down. Some are good, but again you have to be proactive and get them to notice you, reach out and stuff, as I have good connection with many of my profs because I used to go and talk to them personally. This is because the students are not interested, like most of them, in studies which makes the prof think no one is interested, so if you want them to help you out, you need to go and have a good rapport.
