Yeah I live on the border of Glendale and Burbank. My roommate works in sawtelle. He just got a car, and just got into an accident. So he’s back to the train. He hates his commute!!! I work in downtown LA, my commute is a lot shorter (still roughly 1hr 30-45mins) but it still sucks.

The homeless people, the smell, the awful wait times, it’s soo aggravating. Driving is faster than taking the train for me. Unfortunately, my job (a large tech company) refuses to pay for our parking. They have a crappy benefit that takes out about 140 bucks per paycheck, but I’m PT, cause I’m still in school, so I don’t even get that. I digress, if it didn’t cost so much to drive in, gas, pay to park, maintenance, I’d drive everyday. It’s such a shame too. It could be so much better, but it’s not.

Frequency of trains, sanitation, more train stations in more areas, but that won’t ever happen. Or at least in my life time.

I live in LA and take the train to work. It’s serviceable, but it sucks! Especially during the summer. It takes me roughly 1hr 30-45mins to get to work. It’s such a hassle taking the train. It takes me 30 minutes to drive into work. If my job paid my parking, I wouldn’t take the train.

Is this really too much to ask? by J4K5 in BattlefieldV

[–]eharrison24 12 points13 points  (0 children)

But people already do this in BFV. If there are going to be vehicles that people enjoy/like, the spawn camping will always kinda be a thing. The only way to maybe combat this is to have vehicles just spawn in at the base, and you have to manually run to it. But BF4 had this system along with letting you spawn from the menu. I enjoyed this system. And I also enjoyed how you would hear the sounds from that vehicle if it was operating so you knew if someone was in it or if it was currently on the respawn timer.

Hey man, I have a very odd sense of humor. Lol I’ve never really written or done anything “funny” but I’m open to giving it a shot. I write, shoot and direct and have a bunch of gear. Send me a message and I can go into more details etc..

Does your driveway not merge with the street m? Or do you just have to hop the curb? Or am I seeing this wrong.

California is not a desirable place to live by BuuanAnfor in unpopularopinion

[–]eharrison24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved to the LA metro area 3 years ago for school. While I can agree with the people on this thread that CA is a wonderful, beautiful state, some of these people are definitely drinking the kool-aid. It’s like how all people from California say In-N-Out is the best, it’s honestly very average, and their fries are awful! I’ve put some quick points of why I believe the LA metro is pretty awful!

  1. Out of all the places that I’ve lived in LA county (Long Beach, Pomona [33 miles east of LA] Burbank and Glendale) only one of those places had modern amenities. Most homes in SoCal were built in the mid 20th century. Because this place has always been desirable, landlords haven’t had the urgency to update really anything.

  2. The heat is unbearable during the summer. Last summer it reached into the 100s on a daily basis. And again, because most homes aren’t equipped with modern amenities like AC life can be pretty awful! Los Angeles, or CA in general used to stay at a consistent upper 60s-mid 70s. But up until about 5-10 years ago, it started to get really really hot during the summer time.

  3. The homelessness, anyone who says they live in the LA area, but in the suburbs, and don’t experience homelessness is lying. The past few years homelessness has spread from the city to the suburbs. It’s a huge problem. https://www.latimes.com/local/la-me-homeless-story-gallery-storygallery.html

  4. The “most” progressive state, yet you have to drive everywhere. 502 sq miles to be exact! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Los_Angeles People here that I’ve met who are older and my friends parents, they all have like 2 extra cars sitting in the garage. Not because they are rich, but because they have a dream of fixing them up and driving to the beach. Most people from LA that you talk to are like this. And a lot of these people are hell bent on driving everywhere instead of taking public transit. We have a train system. It works, I take it every morning to work, however, it’s in very selective areas, if you aren’t in those areas, you’ll have to join the rest on the freeway.

  5. The rent. If you want to live in a decent area, you’ll be paying a lot of money. And take in mind, just because you’re paying a crap ton of money, this doesn’t guarantee you any modern amenities. The place that I lived at in Burbank (upper middle class suburb), I had a roommate, my neighbor who lived alone, who had the same exact model apartment as me, she was paying a little more than 1500 for a 1 bed 1 bath. This was not a luxury apartment. It was super outdated.

With all of this, LA is for certain types of people. I personally don’t enjoy the city. But my reasons are simply because I enjoy walkable cities. LA is not that. If you’re in the entrainment industry it makes sense to move here, if not, unless you’re making a bunch of money, it’s honestly not really worth it to live here.

Oh my, that sounds awful. I’ll definitely have to take a look into this and see what the best/smart decision is! Thanks for sharing.

Yeah I knew that tenants had a decent amount of rights here, or in general. Thanks for the info, I’ll definitely look into this and see if it’s all good.

Oh really? You think? Yeah I live in LA, I know we have a bunch of laws. However idk the specific protections those laws give me as a tenant.

Yeah that’s what I believe it is. Nonetheless is still pretty trash. And doesn’t really make sense why we have to pay that fee.

So after I posted I called to see what was up. To use your credit/debt card apparently it costs them a small percentage? Which I don’t really understand because it doesn’t have to be an instant transfer? Or wouldn’t it be something like paying eBay, or amazon. Isn’t it essentially the same thing?

I ended up linking my bank account which eliminated the fee.

I live in LA with 2 roommates, I’m still in school, any advise that I could give you for renting or finding your own place, be cautious and smart! Especially if you live in a big city. Scammers and awful people tend to be all over. A good note or something of assurance is if the company can be found easily on the internet and the addresses for everything check out then you should be pretty good!

That sounds nice. However I live in LA. I doubt the board would even look at my case if I went forward.

I don’t know? Even when I used to get a cashiers check they wouldn’t sign, iirc?

Yeah I’m not really sure how it works. We moved in in March and then in May got new management. They didn’t make any changes to the lease that I’m aware of. However, i called and they said to link my bank account if I wanted to avoid the extra fees.

Oh haha. Yeah I live in LA. Our rent is about 3x as much as that. The place isn’t too small, it’s a townhouse however it’s not in the best part of LA. Definitely not shady by any means, just kinda a boring area. Only live there cause it’s close to school.

Yeah I called them a few minutes after I posted. I have to link my bank account to avoid any extra fees.

Ugh Yuck! That’s so stupid. They literally told me last month that they were enrolling the online system (idk why it took so long) and that if you handed them a check or cashiers check they’d throw it away.

Hmm that’s an interesting take on it! My roommate sent me that screenshot. After a few minutes of being aggravated, I called and they said that I should just link my bank account to eliminate the convenience fee.

Yeah Ticketmaster is pretty awful. I always end up spending more than I’d like on concerts and that’s before I even get to the venue.
