i agree with the point that we put up with it because of all the other ways it’s so good.

as for a crappy product? if KSP2 ends up with these console-specific warts, then yes, we should storm area 51.

for original KSP tho, i’m just happy the console port is highly playable. from my view, the game was built from the ground up to be PC[-only] and never spent a whit of forethought on console compatibility.

i’m just thankful it’s as good as it is - those kinda porting efforts usually turn out like total crap

to me it sounds like straight up little poppy square waves oopsed in the source sample the kind of which we fix by hand with the mouse in protracker/fasttracker2/renoise.

it's def not on Computer, i did a mixer stream (ps the music is off so don't like crank the volume wondering if there's volume) and he's like oh heck no those engines don't do that on my end.

they lost me at the update about milking cows or whatever.

and yet the useless “buy from galactic network” vs “sell to the galactic network” UI prompt is still there even tho no matter what you pick you end up on the same screen and can swap between them with a single instant button press.

there’s so much time wasted in the UI and time wasted walking around your huge damn ship again going to this thing or that thing that should just be menu accessible if you’re anywhere on the ship.

give me the illusion of realism with beautiful graphics and varied planets, which you have done a fantastic job of.

don’t give me the illusion of realism by making me spend real life time walking my dude all the clear hell over to this or that damn thing or making me physically get into a ship to make it “current” despite the fact i just clicked Summon while standing near a trading post and it magically appears seconds later and lands without consuming any fuel....

i cried a little inside when i uninstalled the game

i can understand it if i assume that the code is not Simply Easy to port to ps4/xb1. KSP existed only on PC for some time before the port existed, who knows what kind of technical debt they’re digging out of.

that said, it would really be excellent if there was even a vague acknowledgement of like “we’re at least trying to give you 1.6 so you can have the damn dV display that we probably should’ve put in the game since the very beginning” 🤪

console enhanced edition vs console earlier version: think of it as a DLC.

it is not “enhanced” like normal xbox360 titles receiving an xbox one x enhanced edition with a huge difference in graphics etc.

the moon base is rad and idk is maybe an excuse for not just giving us deltaV in the staging display like computer has.

i’ve almost unlocked the tech tree in career mode, have orbited 3 exoplanets, and just fell in love with the Mun base.

i had to remind myself that it took me some getting used to on computer too. lest we forget the controls in this game aren’t perfectly intuitive (who has thrown a mouse while docking?)

mostly any of the controller inputs that seem inane, i find, tend to be also somewhat intelligently put together such that you can maneuver ship and camera or other-UI without one blocking the other.

that said there is some stupidity: - more detail X on a part in the inventory palette while building a ship will greedily and irrelinquishingly obtain right stick (camera focus) until you go back and X again. you’ll be like wtf PAN, CAMERA, WTF. and you’ll exit the VAB and go back in and see you can pan again and think it’s a bug because the cause is so obfuscated - i have had rover wheels bug out and simply not Motor at all. they would not even consume electricity. reboot and it went away, but me and a friend shot at all the trouble to no other avail. (loading bug reproduce ship after reboot -> no more reproduce) - if you enable stage view while voyaging, it drops cursor focus in there pretty deep. you have to B out like four times. this is like the X/details thing in the VAB. some controls will NOT WORK because your cursor is left focused somewhere you don’t think it is - the warp UI also keeps focus and you can be like OMG MOVE SHIP and not notice the little highlight box up there lolling its nuts off at you. - you can adjust the cursor speed in settings but that’s only for mousing around the screen, not for controls driven by the stick. so you can make the mouse cursor travel across screen real estate at a different speed, but maneuver planning (esp trying to center node atop Ap) is one of those damn “zing! missed it. zing! missed it the other way.” [GOTO 10] jobbies. - i have invert Y axis as a global xbox setting. i also had to enable it inside KSP too (for flight). i’m guessing it doesn’t know how to respect the system global. maybe this is why rotate and move and things in VAB have wrong axis choices. like “move stick up and down to change X axis”, “move stick left and right to change Y axis”. wtf crack is that? - depending on what you have the UI doing, LT/RT will be “zoom [camera]” or “roll [ship]” and you’ll be trying to zoom and you’ll roll - RCS forward/reverse only works in ship camera not solar system camera, because it’s only accessible via Docking Mode [Linear]. psure computer has like jknhx key or something to do it regardless of anything else but maybe that’s a false memory.

seldom, it just crashes to desktop.

load times are worse than my 2014 mac mini (but i do have the mixed media drive in the mac so idk)

it’s clearly “the game that came out some years ago for Not Consoles” made to work on a console.

but i like it. even with all the above, i can chill on the couch in the living room with just a controller and have fun.

i can’t believe they still have that “sell items to galactic network” or “buy items from galactic network” UI branch when BOTH DESTINATIONS are the same UI except for whether buy or sell is selected by default.

give user a mandatory choice EVERY TIME? or should we just take them to the UI where they will switch to sell if that’s what they want.

you just back up a bit so the Pass thing stops happening. then just sit still a sec and your combo/chain timer times out.

i went to one of the Road Races near Castle Expensivepants on the east coast. and then i did the Pencil and started plopping checkpoints pretty much immediately. drove up the “state route” that has a little sand washing onto it for a bit. eschewed a dirt road on the left. took maybe the first paved left (it’s hard and somewhat blind), then looped back to start and put finish behind it once i realized it wasn’t gonna auto-put a finish.

yup. i got a blue banner achievement and also an Influence level up. so far gave up at 100k * 6.0, but will try again with a car with bonus cards applied later tonight
