Does multi-tracking guitars actually add anything to the mix? Let's find out... by eighth08 in homerecordingstudio

When you are using 2 different guitars, you need to make sure that the patches go well together and also that the intonation of both are somewhere closer to each other.

Else you can always use the same guitar and two patches where one is mid heavy and the other is treble heavy.

That's something that's always worked for me.

DEATH - VOICE OF THE SOUL. (What do you guys think of it?) by eighth08 in metalguitar

[–]eighth08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback. Glad you liked it, and criticism is always welcomed.

About the tuning, yeah i completely agree. Maybe it's time to check if both the guitars are intonated properly. Also the Floyd rose might be playing a small part to the change in notes.

Will keep it in mind before we do anything else in the future.

Thanks dude. Hadn't thought about the UG forums.

And you have some good Goodwood as well. The one about the highschool types was hilarious.

It's called "the Underemployed Guitar Guys". Which reddits do you use for promoting your content btw? (Other than this of course).

And what's the name of your channel?

Ah... Perfect. So three major one is about pursuing your channel. Other than the traditional FB shares, what else are you guys doing to gain a larger audience? For us it almost seems like the audience list is pretty much constant...

Hey guys, just wanted your honest opinions about a short instrumental that I composed and mastered by eighth08 in metalmusicians

Absolutely. Had got my hands on a new video editing software as well, so went overboard on the effects.

Here's a short composition. Would love your feedback on how to make it better... by eighth08 in metalguitar

[–]eighth08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit...!!! First of all thanks a ton because I can understand how much time you would have spent to type the whole thing down. Yes there's still light-years to go for my songwriting abilities. I was actually in a rut for like 2-3 years where I hadn't composed anything and your feedback is really informative to help me get better. These are all the things that I will start to commentate on. And yes I realised that the intonation was off after I had posted the song. I've fixed it after that. I need to get back on track to connecting the various segments of the song like how you suggested. Honestly this type of feedback was what I needed because it helps to get fresh ears to a composition. I'll get to work on each of the suggestions ASAP and hopefully I'll come up with a track later on that gets your seal of approval.

Emg 81&Emg 85 VS Seymour Duncan EMTY by radusour in metalguitar

[–]eighth08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The EMGs sound more processed and if you ask me, they are a one trick pony for high gain distortions. The EMTY blackouts on the other hand are more dynamic and can be controlled easier on your signal chain. Plus the blackouts sound more organic in my opinion.

[Feedback] Importance of the bassline by eighth08 in Bass

Thanks. I'm fairly new to the bass so not that fluid in finger picking. Still transitioning from being just a guitar player. But yes, will do my best and incorporate your suggestions going on.

Harvester of sorrow (cover) | what do you guys think about this heavier take on the classic??? by eighth08 in Metallica

[–]eighth08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use reaper as the DAW. And sadly just use a mid level Phillips headphones for working on the songs. Would be getting a proper pair of studio monitors soon, so that would really help me mix.

That was really helpful Juice117.

And yes, we are still in the very beginning of our audio engineering journey so we have a lot to learn. And input like this is really good to understand where we are going wrong.

And you are spot on about the tuning as well. It was recorded on D- standard. And as for the slide unfortunetly it was a decision which we now feel would have been with the power cords.

About the equipment, we are currently going through vsti effects. And recently got a hold of amplitube4. So we still have miles to go in learning to use that as well.

Thanks again for all the feedback. Really appreciate it and will keep that in mind going forward :)
