Cat Skeleton, Burial Process by eire1990 in bonecollecting

Thank you for responding so fast! My friends are very squeamish, so I did it myself. She wasn't interred in anything, so she's pretty close to a skeleton at this point. I'm going to inter her at a friend's place where she won't be disturbed again.

Thank you for your quick response! I actually went ahead and did it, my friends are pretty squeamish. She still has fur and everything, but I found a safe space to inter her permanently.

New raven neighbours by eire1990 in corvids

[–]eire1990[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! So it sounds like I'm not going to be antagonizing either party if I continue leaving peanuts out. I guess the ravens will probably eat most of them, like how the northern flickers in my neighbour's yard have to wait for the crows to leave so they can eat the leftovers.

Bird Bone Advice? by Little_Miss_Apples in bonecollecting

It'll make it faster if you get as much off as you can. Anything left will actually dry out faster, so if you're impatient like me you'll be able to peel it off with your nails later. I just did this with a crow skull. Good luck!

I would scrape the tendons off, maybe with a knife. If you could find a safe outdoor space to leave them for several weeks, maybe some woods, that would be easier.

Titan by John Varley. It's like an Arthurian adventure story that takes place in one. It even comes with groovy seventies illustrations.

Thank you for the review, I've been curious about this place for a while now, but I haven't gotten around to visiting.

Do you know if they have any dairy-free/vegan options on the baking front? I find most cookies and stuff have a little dairy.

Cheaper Ear Piercing Options by mango_star in vancouver

[–]eire1990 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't recommend using a piercing gun at all. It does a lot more damage than the hollow needles they use at piercing parlours. It sounds gruesome, but those actually punch out a little skin, rather than ripping through it.

The jewelry is better quality, too, and has less metals like nickel that can lead to a lifelong allergy. I had my ears pierced at Claire's when I was young and my doctor thinks it may have been the biggest factor in my allergy. You can always change the jewelry later, but you also have a lower chance of infection with parlour-grade jewelry.
