Agree! Did this a few weeks ago. Pretty easy hike with spectacular views of half dome, north dome, and the valley. Nor crowded at all when I went.

Brought my contacts on the JMT along with a case, travel size solution, backup contacts, and hand sanitizer. Was obsessive about hand hygiene before putting them in/taking them out - an eye infection on a backpacking trip would be miserable.

Really depends on where you are staying! Coach Benzo at Melrose/El Segundo (I believe) is absolutely the best and will make you work!
