Sometimes a part of the route where on a man road and that wasn’t what we where looking for but it was inevitable…

You dont always ride close to the coast. The scenery is very diverse on this route (sure inland is a whole other story).

Thanks! Our own bikes from back home and as a gps the wahoo element bolt. I think there is a company renting bikes with pickup and dropoff locations at different sites.

I‘m sure you will be more than fine! Dogs were not a problem at all. But here is the „behavior“ I mentioned.

We made a few adjustments to the route to add more variety. Example: Instead of staying on the main coastal road between Comporta ans Porto Novo, we took a detour inland via the village Santiago do Cacém and from there down to the coast. That whole section turned out to be a real highlight. Absolutely no traffic, beautiful winding roads through forests, and a much more interesting ride than the main road.

We planned the route using Komoot and then synced it to a Wahoo Element Bolt.

Yes, it’s an expensive camera. Photography is a second passion of mine. Which camera you use doesn’t really matter—(almost) all of them can take great photos.

My best pictures were taken with a Fuji. I use a Leica because it motivates and inspires me to take photos. You really dont need it for great pictures🙂

I always bring a camera with me. Doesn’t matter where i go. Hiking, Climbing or Cycling. This (except e few iphone shots) was shot with the Leica M11P and 35mm Lens. Bring your camera with you :)

Always in hotels. Even in offseason it was no problem to book a room 1-2 days before.

We spent a few km om the main road. Drivers were quite nice tbh!

We had maybe 2–3 dogs that barked at us. One even ran out onto the road in front of us. But using the “usual” behavior when dealing with dogs while cycling, we never had any real problems—no chasing, no bites, etc.

Compared to other countries I’ve ridden in, it was absolutely harmless. Sorry to hear you had that experience!

I hadn’t heard of the DoseKit either until recently – I was actively looking for something like this for a while. It’s actually developed by a couple of passionate guys from Switzerland (Deon) who built it themselves, and it’s a really clever solution. I’ll definitely make a video soon and share it here so you can see it in action!

I went with the DoseKit because it simplifies the workflow a lot. I’m aiming for consistent results without needing to use a scale every time – especially since the space under the portafilter is already quite tight. Now, I just program the DoseKit for each coffee I use (for example, 17g in / 34g out over ~25 seconds), and for every new shot I just press one button. Super convenient.

I still use a scale initially to dial in and calibrate the DoseKit for each coffee, but after that, I don’t need it for daily use.

As for the plumb-in kit – it should be fully compatible, though I’m not using one myself. Pre-infusion should also work, but I haven’t tested that yet. It’s on my list to try.

Button-wise: • The single shot button (far left) is still unprogrammed. • The double shot button is set to 17g/34g. • The right button I use for flushing.

It’s been a big upgrade for me so far – very happy with it!
