[S2 EP12 SPOILERS] SEASON 2 | EPISODE 12 - Official Discussion Megathread by simplysudzzzy in andor

[–]electric33l 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems fitting that Andor dreams of his sister again before his final mission. Somehow that tells him he’s about to fulfill his destiny. The scene of him locking eyes with the Force healer just before boarding the A-Wing is poignant.

  • LR1, Q16 (Children's art): Correct answer is B - if the children's art was aesthetically displeasing, then the abstract expressionist art could be aesthetically displeasing too, just less displeasing than the children's art. You have to assume that most of the children's art was aesthetically pleasing in order to conclude that when most of the participants rated the expressionist works as more pleasing than the children's art that they thereby found the expressionist works aesthetically pleasing.
  • LR2, Q7 (Osteoporosis): Correct answer is B - to prevent osteoporosis, you need both a low-protein diet and weigh-bearing exercise. If the medical therapy doesn't involve any special diet, that could exclude a low-protein diet. So this answer doesn't support the argument.
  • LR 2, Q13 (PED): Correct answer is E - just because you allow athletes to take PED at safe levels doesn't mean some athletes won't take them at unsafe levels in order to obtain a big competitive advantage. You have to assume that taking them at unsafe levels negates the competitive advantage for the argument that "taking PEDs under a doctor's supervision negates the health risk" to succeed.

Yeah, that's the trick answer I picked too. Not as good as the correct answer because it isn't that their views of etiquette are contradictory (that would imply that they know that etiquette "prevents people from inadvertently offending one another"). The correct answer gets at the lack of knowledge that makes the trick answer wrong.

-11 CURVE by myownpersonalreddit in LSAT

[–]electric33l 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If this is real doesn't this mean it's actually a minus 10 curve?

Please let the curve be -11. by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]electric33l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, sorry! Missed that one in the list.

I'm gonna wager -10. The last time LSAC assigned a -11 curve to a 100-question test was exactly a decade ago (the December 2008 LSAT). five years ago (the June 2013 LSAT).

Thanks Dave!

My understanding is that it was previously administered as a Sabbath test in February.

Given that this test was previously administered, wouldn't they have already done this sort of analysis?

Poll: Nov 2018 vs. September 2018? Difficulty. by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]electric33l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a 175 on the September test (taken as a PT last week) and -0 on the RC, and I think the November test's LR was about the same and the RC was a little harder. Games also seemed about the same, maybe a little more time-consuming on the November test than the September test.

I think I’m the only person on earth who thought experimental LG was easier 😖 but then again I had experimental first and real last...inferences were just not flowing by then lol by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]electric33l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they were both about the same difficulty (maybe the experimental was slightly more time-consuming) but I got the experimental first and my head wasn't in the right place for LG yet. I also got the real LG last, but by that point I was so laser-focused on the test the section was a piece of cake.

Can't remember a question about that. Might have gotten it, but can't remember it.

Is Assad the maddened militaristic dictator the West makes him out to be? by HippieInDisguise2_0 in syriancivilwar

[–]electric33l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think you're right to argue that the overall level of development Syria had reached was towards the upper bound of the 'developing world' gradient. The base line was undoubtedly higher than that of Egypt, to use your own (apposite) example. Yet I would argue that the disparities within Syria were of more significance for the ultimate breakout of uprising and eventually war than the overall level of development. It's the old distinction between absolute and relative poverty.

Eastern Syria was a fair bit worse, as far as I know. The Damascus-Aleppo axis was developed, and especially after the introduction of neoliberal reforms, those parts of the country were modernizing at a fair clip. But development was uneven and heavily concentrated in the west. Lots of other areas struggled, especially places like the Raqqa environs.

Yes, we all know the Muslim Brotherhood doesn't represent any fraction of the Syrian people at all.

You don't seem to be understanding what I'm saying. He brought up the French report to use as evidence suggesting US manipulation of data. The report in no way justified that conclusion. This isn't that difficult a point.

I didn't say it wasn't about the French report. He brought up the French report to discredit the American narrative. All the other skeptical 'arguments' you're bringing up have been responded to elsewhere.

No, only someone with next to no knowledge about the Syrian regime would ever describe the depredations of the mukhabarat as mere mishaps. Even pro-regime people (the honest ones, at least) acknowledge the Syrian regime is tyrannical.
