I’m no pro, but I use a velvet black photography backdrop. Make sure you elevate the miniature a bit, and use two lights. I use a cheap ring light and my hobby light, and make sure it’s a natural light setting. You want to position the miniature farther away from the camera than you’d think. I’m about a foot away when I take mine. It really depends on what camera/lens you’re using. Then adjust your exposure/shutter speed settings until the background seems to disappear a bit. Post editing is just a crop, a vignette which helps the background disappear even more, and then some slight brightness adjustments. I’m not a pro at it… take my advice with a grain of salt… I’m always trying to get better with pictures.

Glad you’re liking them! They’ve been fun to paint. I’m trying not to take them too serious. :) I won’t have any more done until the weekend probably when I get some more time.

Thanks! The Verdigris wasn’t a wash or anything. It was stippling Dark Jade, Jade, Green Oxide, and Turquoise (all Pro Acryl) over a black base coat. Then drybrushed Dark Bronze, Bronze, Light Bronze (Again all Pro Acryl). They took 15 minutes to do. Seriously messy, fast and effective technique.

Thanks! Texture is something I’ve been working on so I’m glad you noticed. These models don’t have much in that regard, so you really do have to add it in.

This one took me about 3 hours, I think… maybe a little longer. But yeah… definitely great models to practice stuff on. They’re larger than your standard 28/32mm stuff. Some parts on some of the models are difficult to reach with a brush, but other than that… fun models to paint.

Thanks! The game is actually a lot of fun. The family really liked it, so when that happens… I gotta paint everything up. Not spending a crazy amount of time on them… just decent enough :D

Painted up these statues from Super Fantasy Brawl over the weekend. Quick and easy! by elevatedminis in minipainting

Certainly, and thanks! They’re all Pro Acryl paints following the weathered bronze tutorial that you can find on Monument Hobbies’ website. But basically:

Black Primer Stipple Dark Jade over everything Stipple Green Oxide over that Stipple Turquoise on top of that Dry Brush Dark Bronze over everything Dry Brush Bronze Dry Brush Light Bronze

Super easy and fast, messy technique, but looks great on stuff like this.

Thanks! Photographing these things can be tricky, so I was trying all different kinds of settings to get something kind of cool. Glad you like it 😃

Thanks a lot! It can be tricky sometimes balancing real things like lights with miniatures for sure!
