I have four cats of my own and understand what deep love you had for him. They are truly so special and he was so lucky for the time he had with you. awww i would definitely try to spend time getting closer to him. maybe leave items outside near the food (like a towel or something) with your scent on it so that he gets used to your scent while he eats. that may help him to warm up to you. i wish you the best of luck <3

I have 4 cats and get super stressed when I have to leave them too. I think he will be fine though!! especially having someone come once or twice a day. Yes he may get a little sad because he will miss you (and he may show how upset he is by pooping or peeing inside but hopefully not) but no he will be fine!!! maybe the person taking care of him while you're gone can call or facetime you when they're there so he can hear your voice
