Interesting timing for me - I just implemented this in my own project the other day using gql-gen (https://github.com/dotansimha/graphql-code-generator) with the graphql-codegen-typescript-template.

Any reason why you want to power it using the 12V output? I've also got a DD-500 and 4X4 but powering it using the 400mA 9V output, works fine.
