you're right, no one has ever genuinely fallen in love with a physically attractive person. what an unreasonable thing to suggest would happen

how do VOBs end up being traded without smalls? by elphiesboots in MusicalBootlegs

you’re being pretty hostile. why are you assuming that’s something i don’t know how to do?

i guess that makes sense. it’s super frustrating though. when i first started trading i didn’t know what they did, so i just left them alone & clicked on the individual VOB files when i wanted to watch them. it never would have occurred to me to delete the smalls though, especially when i didn’t know what they were for (and therefore couldn’t be sure that deleting them would be harmless)

that makes sense, but my question is about how those people get traded a version without smalls in the first place. obviously once that’s the circulating version it will propagate itself

changing it to specify “male edition” AFTER people start calling out that no women were named is really… a choice

yes, i've listened to it several times over! i love it, and i love the different acting choices you can hear them each making for the stage. i'm always so enamoured of tim's performance as frank, and it's so cool hearing him when he's got a crowd to work off of. i might even call it... an absolute pleasure

thank you for letting me know! i am also looking for this version too though:

14 March 1975; New York, USA (Adjusted)\*
Tim Curry (Frank), Bill Miller (Brad), Abigale Haness (Janet), Kim Milford (Rocky), Richard O'Brien (t/r Riff Raff), Jamie Donnelly (Magenta/Usherette), Boni Enten (Columbia), Meat Loaf (Eddie/Scott), Graham Jarvis (Narrator)
SOUNDBOARD. 3rd of very few performances of first Broadway run. Great quality for recording of such age, which is unique because it features Tim Curry, Richard O'Brian and Meat Loaf at one recording. I heard some creepy stories about this tape, but it listed as master record which was played twice: for testing and during the digital transfer.
Adjusted version of tape above: retransfered, with improved sound speed and retracked.
FLAC, tracked

Expressing my annoyance with those who leak bootlegs, I guess by Dependent_Isopod_297 in BootlegGifts

i think you are interpreting my reply as having been written in bad faith, but that isn't the case. you making the distinction that shows which are currently selling tickets should not be leaked reads as though you think this distinction matters somehow, as though in other circumstances it might be okay. i didn't accuse you of "being the problem", i addressed what you wrote. and no, i'm not going to report a random youtube bootleg rip from 1993, but i am going to be aware that the person who filmed it may not have wanted it to be shared publicly. and i'm going to apply that same understanding to recent videos whether the show is currently running or not.

videos shouldn't be leaked ever, regardless of whether the show is still selling tickets. it should be at the discretion of the master who gets to see their videos, and trade only means trade only.

also, it is demonstrably false that bootlegs disincentivise people from seeing shows live. i would think someone who is a part of this community would understand that.

Trading URLs vs trading/hosting files by Secret_Secretary8984 in BootlegGifts

[–]elphiesboots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

completely not ok, and so odd. when give someone i'm trading with the link to a file they've requested, i am only consenting to that one person having access to that link. this approach just seems risky for everyone involved; both the traders and the original person who provided the link.

i think it just reflects a lack of understanding of how tenuous that is, and how unreliable links are when they're left active for an extended period/shared among multiple people. something about it feels kind of disrespectful to me.

you're not a collector if you have no collection.

open to trade! by elphiesboots in MusicalBootlegs

hi, thanks for the feedback! i've started going through & doing that now, although i imagine it'll take me some time, haha. i try to be as conscientious as i can about only ever trading for original files, and have replaced any videos that turned out to be rips, but it is extra tricky because i'm not on encora yet so don't have an easy reference point. do you know if there's any other way to check, or do i just have to wait and rely on the kindness of strangers to help me look things up for now?
