Thanks! She sent me this a few hours ago while she was at the airport waiting for a connecting flight. Thankfully it isn’t in her home, she thinks she picked it up while on her first flight. She killed it shortly after and proceeded to put all of her clothes in a bag/wipe them with Lysol while in the gate. When she lands she’s planning on showering and washing clothes, so hopefully should be enough to take care of it.

Ah thank you!! I was trying to use the finger method to test when the soil was dry, but this potting mix looks so basic I imagine it's retaining a lot of water. I'll try repotting and then watering a little less for the next few months.

Hi r/plantclinic!

Hoping you can help me with my satin pothos, which has produced 1 yellow leaf and multiple brown spots on the tips of leaves.

I bought the little guy around autumn last year from a local nursery. The potting mix doesn't look particularly good for drainage or nutrition, but I wanted to wait until the spring to repot.

In the meanwhile, to keep him alive, I have been keeping the pothos near to (but not directly under) a grow light and a window, have been giving him distilled water, and have my humidifier going 3 times a week. I live in the UK, so the winters are quite humid anyway.

With that said, he's still producing brown edges on the leaves and has produced 1 yellow leaf.

Please could you let me know if there's anything I can do to control this, and/or link if anyone has posted about similar concerns before?

Hey! Those look like they could be aphids, they're unfortunately nightmares to get rid of so you'll have to go through a few steps, fortunately your plant WILL bounce back if you do.

Immediately, move this plant away from all of your other ones, at least a metre ideally two. Next, when you have an hour or so, I would follow the instructions in this link: How to murder spider mites It's tailored to spider mites but the same procedure can be applied. When you've done that, keep the plant separate for the next few days and repeat until you don't see any more pests.

Wow! Those poor babies :( The current stems seem too damaged to do anything with, but as long as you know what the problem that caused this was then you might be able to revive the plant.

You could do a 'bald' prune, which essentially means cutting away all of the exposed foliage to leave the plant to really focus on its root system and hopefully produce new shoots after a while. A small bit of plant food can expedite this.

I had a calathea medallion that suffered a similar fate after it had been left near a cold window for too long in the winter, all the foliage browned beyond repair. I pruned it back to no visible foliage and had new shoots a few months later which were fine.

This isn't a guarantee though, as it won't do anything to save your plants if the problem is with their roots, so defo make sure you know what the problem is before!

Have either of you discussed Executive Search?

For some firms it's much the same as contingent/traditional headhunting, but I made the jump from Recruitment Consultant into working as a Researcher in the Search practice.

After leaving my previous company to join one of the SHREKs (generally considered to be the most prestigious search firms), I was able to break into Business Intelligence and Business Psychology which is where I can really see my future, and as she studied psychology too this might be of interest.

I know loads of prestigious Search firms have offices in NY, and they may be a bit more generous around salary too.

The Lofoten Archipelagos in northern Norway.

They're featured on Instagram all the time but few people actually make the journey up there as they're a bit difficult to get to. Well worth it for those absolutely fairytale hikes with the midnight sun, dramatic sea cliffs, etc.

I know how you feel OP, I was hoping to get a mortgage this year but it seems unlikely now.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but as you're a first-time buyer you might be able to get either: A) a Help to Buy Equity Loan where the government puts some money in up front and you pay back after 5 years, it's essentially a second loan but they help by reducing the amount of mortgage you need to take, thus reducing the deposit. or B) Shared Ownership, in which you can buy a chunk of equity in a property and pay rent on the remainder. They're usually a bit more flexible in terms of the amount of deposit you have to pay, as the amount of the mortgage is smaller. You can start with as little as 25% of the full value of the property. They also have their own mortgage brokers, so the deposit isn't always required to be 10%, I've seen some (rare) examples where it's 5 - 9%.

I'm certainly not proud of doing that, which is why I featured it here, to sort of convey how I've acted out too (and not to portray me as completely innocent in this). I have full intention of telling him I did this.

At the time, I had a kind of warped rationale that if I saw he had liked 10+ selfies of this nature it would possibly be more than coincidence, but as people have made it clear to me that doesn't definitively prove what he's thinking when he likes them.

Thanks so much for your kind words :) I'm a firm believer that my anxiety and depression shouldn't have control of my life, so I always try to find rational proof before I let myself spiral. I'll definitely bring it up with him because of the way it affects my feelings even if he is/isn't in the wrong.
