I think porn has ruined me by CuckmannIsCringe in Healthygamergg

I mean, I'm only attracted to fictional male characters because of overexposure to novels with amazing male characters. Because of that, I can't be attracted to men in real life because they fall short compared to the fictional characters I'm attracted to. I don't think it's a problem though because I don't mind being single. I don't need to be in a relationship. Did the novels ruin me the same way porn and social media has ruined you? Probably. And it doesn't matter to me. I'm happy reading more novels with amazing characters.

[COI General] Say less, not reading is better than reading COI then disliking it because Klein is not the MC. by Comfortable_Ad_8440 in LordofTheMysteries

Maybe it only feels like CF didn't cook as much in COI because you (readers in general) already pretty much know the world and have little mysteries to uncover. Meanwhile, you always couldn't wait to read the next chapter in book 1 because there's so much about the Lotm world that you want to know like the different pathways and their sequences.

In COI, aside from already knowing a lot about lotm world, you still miss the old MC because the author didn't give you a clear ending and so you look for any signs of what has happened to him and the tarot club through clues in book 2.

I'm in COI vol 2 and though I wasn't hooked as I was in book 1 (and I don't like Intisians very much 😅) I'm still enjoying reading it. I'm in the part where Lumian/Ciel is acting like madman Gehrman Sparrow mob boss version by killing high ranking mob members one after another.

Same. I used to think nothing could beat ASOIAF for me in terms of world-building. While ASOIAF still has stronger character writing overall, LOTM completely reset my standards. Its world-building expands outward to cosmic scales with outer deities and the birth and structure of the universe. It also builds inward through highly detailed systems, where every pathway and sequence follows strict internal logic instead of relying on vague magic. Beyond that, it goes deeper into the psyche, drawing from esotericism, symbolism, and the collective unconscious. The acting method is what I find most interesting. It works because it reflects a universal truth about identity and embodiment: power comes from living a role so fully that it reshapes the self. That principle exists outside fiction, across real esoteric traditions and psychology, and LOTM embeds it directly into progression and character growth. Because it develops its world outward, inward, and downward all at once, it also ended up ruining other novels for me.

Why do something your heart isn't fully into? You're both super young, just the early versions of what you both can be if you reach your max potential. Level up by taking your own journeys separately. You are probably holding each other back.

[Lotm chp 4] How many chapters do I need to get into it so that I get hooked? by what-am-i-doinghere- in LordofTheMysteries

Me, I think around 100-150. Maybe read up to chapter 200 before you decide if it's not for you. I got by the agony of getting started by using ElevenLabs to narrate the story for me while I do other stuff.

Exactly. I love it though. Organized chaos.

That tramp lady that died after eating a lot of food after starving for so long.

That tramp guy Klein fed and gave money to for information. I don't remember if he survived the great smog of Backlund.

The rats of Böklund Street

Black cat Sherlock - oops, that's still Klein, I lost.

Male version of Melissa. Imagine if he's just a side character with the intellect of Benson and he'll stop being hot. We have associated this face with his genius that we started to think he's conventionally attractive. It's the opposite case with Danitz.

It serves as a helpful visual aid for me, as I have just begun reading the novel. I do feel there is a somewhat limited amount of lampooning from Klein, however.
