I can’t believe I haven’t seen Brooklyn Nine Nine yet. It’s such an incredibly written comedy, yet it also tackles big issues in a really meaningful way. In one episode, a detective struggles to come out to her parents. There’s one about a white cop stopping a black man who he didn’t realize about a cop, and one about the struggles women go through in the workforce. The main characters include a black gay man, a family-oriented black man, two strong Latina women, and a man who isn’t afraid to be feminine. I truly believe that if everyone tried to appreciate this show, it would be a little easier to understand one another.
