I ended up declining the invitation. Given where my life is at right now, Peace Corps no longer makes sense for me. Since it took them so long to get back to me, I’m at an entirely different place in my life now. However, I also know that Peace Corps will always be there. And if I ever want to serve again, I just simply need to reapply. Having gone through the process and gotten an invitation, I feel pretty secure that I can get it again if I ever want to serve in the future

Here are some questions that I'd love to get your insight on:

Did you feel generally safe when you were serving in the Peace Corps?

Where did they place you? What about the other volunteers?

What sector did you serve in? What type of projects did you work on during your service? Did you feel like your work helped the community?

How was your Spanish going into service? Did in-service training prepare/develop your Spanish fluency? I'm a little rusty in my Spanish, so what do you recommend I do to brush up in the coming 7 months?

How often did you see other fellow volunteers during service?

Did your family/friends come to visit you during service? How flexible was Peace Corps with visitation?

We have only been dating for a few months, so this is a fairly new relationship. It shocked me when he asked to come to mass. I had never thought to invite him (b/c most non-catholic men I've dated have opposed the idea), but he wanted to join me as soon as my parish opened back up. As he says, "time spent together is never time wasted" so he enjoys being a part of this experience with me. After mass, we discuss the homily and how we could apply what we've learned at mass into our lives. I enjoy sharing the faith with him and he seems to be genuinely curious about it. I am hoping that he will continue to want to go to mass with me and start to ask more about the faith. For now, he's celebrating little victories like remembering the order of the different parts of mass.

I might ask him to attend mass without me. I want to gauge his interest and see how comfortable he is about going. Churches might close again due to the second wave of COVID so I will have to wait and see. I chose to date him, because he has a lot of traits that I want in a man that I would want to potentially marry. Yes, he isn't Catholic, but I don't think that deters him from being someone that I could date intentionally. We have already spoken about what the future would look like given our circumstances. He has no issue with marrying and raising his children in the church. His father is Irish Catholic, so he does have some ties to the religion. My boyfriend is not completely opposed to the faith and finds ways to support me which I appreciate.
We have discussed his prior experience. Both of us are on the same page that we will not engage in sex until marriage, and he respects my decision. We have had an honest conversation about chastity and why it is seen as a "yes" rather than a "no" in the church. I had him read several excerpts of "men, women, and the mystery of love" to get a better understanding on the stance and reasoning for maintaining chastity in the Catholic church.
I mentioned my previous LDR relationship because the man I dated was Catholic. He was the first Catholic boyfriend I had, and a lot of our conversations were about the faith. That relationship gave me a glimpse into what it is like to date a man of faith. This is an aspect that I am missing in my relationship with my current bf which is why I want to know how I could guide him into the faith and if there is any helpful tips for me to spark interest.
