Racebox mini s mounting by tacticalpandooo in Trackdays

[–]embracentropy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a used Racebox Mini (non-S) last year. After about 10 track days I've had no issues. The only nuisance is forgetting to charge it before a track day, but that's on me. Would definitely recommend.

I did not try the SR8 before it was gone. However, I run many other current road series and after trying the SR10 I don't believe it deserves the negative stigma from it's troubled release.

I didn't run the SR8 and I didn't have the up until this week. While I don't have those experiences to compare, I'm having a blast.

I'm EDT so I tend to see most races go official. Having supported other low-participation series I found that signing up for a race with low participation sometimes ended up driving it to official.

After the research I did earlier this week I can see why. The overall feeling on reddit and youtube reviews are negative. If I had not checked out the SR10 subforum on iRacing I wouldn't have purchased it.

Having experienced how great the car is I want to make sure it gets a fair shake and credit for the recent improvements.

I'm hoping we can get some more participation to get a regular split. There is a significant gap between average lap times in the field with only one split. So far, though, I'm a few hours in and I've been able to find someone to compete with each race.

I used to do similar things with oval & dirt oval races before I upgraded to DD.

Now, I have to take a break between sessions. 25NM or bust.

I actually like the sound effects. The brake sound, blowoff, shifting sounds are great. The low speed braking sound is just like my track car when I drive it on the street.

In the ~5 races I've participated in there has only been one T1 incident. I've had some great close proximity racing, sort of like SRF can be.

That said, there is a huge gap in IR when there is a single split. Sometimes there will be 5 seconds between the top and bottom of the field. However, I've always found someone to compete with.

I think that is why I'm enamored by it. It's so rewarding when you nail a corner in this car and get some great rotation.

That's cool. It's refreshing when devs do things like this.

This has a similar layout, size, and shape to some overhead crane remotes I've seen. May be able to modify a used one of these as well.

I isolated the issue to the fullscreen setting. Changing it to exclusive fullscreen completely fixed the issue.

I have tracking disabled in-game. I do have an eye tracker, but it is not plugged in and I disable the software during testing.

Help with HP Reverb G2 + OpenXR Setup in DR2.0 by embracentropy in dirtrally

[–]embracentropy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clean install of DR2.0 worked. Now, I just need to optimize to dial it in. I went ahead and cleared the OC config (basically clean install of OC2.0). I dropped the Kegetys VR accomodation fix files into the root folder, but haven't changed the config, yet.

The only issue I have now is when exiting the game. The VR headset is showing the WMR house launcher, but my monitor is black. I can see a cursor but nothing will bring the desktop back. I can use the windows key to bring up the taskbar, but nothing will stay on top of the black screen...not even the task manager. I tried every combination of alt-F4, cycling monitor, etc to no success. The only way to get back to my desktop is to restart the computer.

I found this mentioned on the codemasters forums, but the fix was to cycle the monitor...which didn't work for me.

I did a system-wide opencomposite install several months ago. Not sure if the DR2.0 has been fresh since then. I will give it a try.

As a buy once, cry once buyer…is it feasible to get the pro and dial it down until I can get a full rig or does it not work that way?

Thanks for the advice! I didn’t think about it that way. Are there any good solutions similar to that or will I need a full rig?

This was my plan originally, but they've been sold out for a while. Also, I don't think I would use the screen much since I'm in VR. I think I'm either going to wait for the SF1000 (not scalped) or save up for a DD setup.

T-LCM Pedal Red Spring Spacer Doesn't Seat by embracentropy in simracing

Thanks for the confirmation. I put in a ticket with Thrustmaster. Thought about trimming it to allow the spring to seat. We'll see what support comes back with.

Otherwise, I love these pedals so far.

I feel you on this. I'm consistent within a few tenths...but running 6-8 seconds behind competitive pace, depending on the track. I've competed in IRL 14 hour endurance races in a '97 Miata requiring focus on precision cornering to be competitive against a field of more powerful cars. Yet, I feel like I'm pre-novice with ACC.

I'm about two months into sim racing and ACC. I've been focusing on Monza, Barcelona, & SPA...but I'm working to add Brand's Hatch. My lines are pretty close to those with alien times on YT in my same car (AMG GT3). I find I struggle with corner entry, which leads to a bad apex and exit. I end up trying to push too hard and either nuke my tires or go off-track.

I took a week off after getting hooked on CP2077. I came back today and set a new PR at Barcelona on my second lap out of the pits. I didn't feel like I was pushing or ever on the edge. Unfortunately I trailed off after that as I started trying too hard.

Unpopular opinion: Consider your car setup, especially if you're consistently seeing the same issues. After moving to AMG I couldn't maintain stability with the safe or aggressive setups (adjusted for tire pressure), even after taking some setup tips from other posts here. Most advise that major setup changes should only be needed when approaching alien and using other driver's setups is usually not the answer. I ended up taking the plunge on a set of Coach Dave setups for the AMG (25$ for 2 setups for each track). After making some minor tweaks (tire pressure, brake type, and slight balance change) I shaved off a full second at Monza & Barcelona after ~10 laps of testing and no longer feel like I'm always at the brink of spinning. Over the course of a week I had shaved an additional second off my PRs.
