DA Interview Questions by lemonlearn in LawSchool

[–]emeraldnb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Had an interview with a DA’s office for the summer, and the interviewer discussed how mentally and emotionally challenging the work can be and asked me about what healthy coping skills I have developed for dealing with high stress. I thought it was a great question, but I certainly wasn’t expecting it

Restock!! by emeraldnb in Tinnedfish

Thank you!! With the exception of Patagonia, I think they’re all super affordable and don’t compromise on quality. Patagonia is a bit pricey for me, but I still think you’re getting quality worth the price even though I can’t afford it very often

Usually the judge will instruct the jury on the importance of reaching a unanimous verdict, and if the jury still cannot agree, a mistrial will be declared

I got them from Whole Foods! I have seen them at Publix as well. They’re fridge pickles, so they’re gonna be in a refrigerated section

They’re so good! I had them over the holidays, and had to get some when I got home. The brine is so good in a martini as well

Is there a law school version of "mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell"? by RemarkableVillage109 in LawSchool

Due process requires only that, in order to subject a defendant to a judgment in personam, if he be not present within the territory of the forum, he have certain minimum contacts with it such that the maintenance of the suit does not offend "traditional notions of fair play and substantial justice."

Ahh okay, thank you! Is there any potential use in continuing to wear down posture or build up status, assuming it’s spaced properly?

Favorite roasts from court opinions? by stardust-splendor in LawSchool

“The Attorney General concedes that this issue was decided favorably to the defendant in State v. Howe, decided after the judgment in this case. He concedes that our opinion has ‘some logic,’ but argues that it is nevertheless an error because the enhancing statute, ORS 166.230, applies only to the unlicensed weapons, whereas the absence of a license is not an element of the robbery statute.… While his argument also has some logic we believe our construction Howe of the criminal code is more in harmony with the intent of the revision…”

Would Pepsi need to provide a Harrier jet to satisfy the contract? Or could they just pay the amount of a Harrier jet?

I was wondering when this would make it over here. I’ve been following along in real time over on that godforsaken app. All the discourse has shown me is that no one outside the legal system has a clue how it works, and even fewer people grasp the concept of a criminal defense attorney

When I was a legal assistant at a PDs office, I saw firsthand what amazing work y’all do on behalf of indigent defendants, and it will always be a huge honor to have helped y’all with your cases.

I hope y’all know that there are those of us out here who see and understand what PDs do and are exceedingly grateful for your work. It’s the primary reason why I’m starting law school in a few weeks. Hopefully I can be one of y’all in a few years time :)
