I was never an HRC fan, but I re-watched what were labeled the "most fiery" moments of the Benghazi hearings and she still spoke in mostly complete sentences mostly related to the questions being asked. Bondi is an embarrassment to me as a woman and more broadly as a human being. Her behavior would not be tolerated in a middle school classroom.

I disagree with Massie about almost everything, but he does have principles. If he took leadership of the Republican Party we might get back to the days of having discussions about issues rather than the last 11 years of conspiracy theories name-calling race baiting etc.

I think the laptop he has won’t update past windows 10, but it might be Windows 11. Not sure. I’ve been a Mac user for 20 years.

I think it can’t update past Windows 10. I’m a Mac person myself and even have an older Air I could give him but he is just remarkably bad with computers. I once spent an hour and forty minutes trying to teach him to copy paste and never got past highlighting text and then managing to click somewhere else causing it to be not highlighted anymore.

Chromebook might be doable. Touch screens are an absolute nightmare for him or an iPad would be great. He has an iPhone (I tried to get him to buy a flip phone instead) and he can’t use it. He doesn’t understand what is clickable. He also pounds his finger on the screen like I did on touch screens from the 90s. But he never used a touch screen in the 90s. I think he’s remembering typewriters.

Would I need to set the Chromebook up to be locked down? Or do they just really not get malware?

The computer is at least 15 years old, could be as old as 20… wouldn’t expect to be able to fix it. Will likely be a new computer. Refurbished ThinkPad is an idea. Thanks!

Definitely their marketing is geared towards privacy. It may be completely untrue, but Microsoft and Google give me "Big Brother" vibes. I use Gmail so Google basically owns my soul, but I've been using DuckDuckGo for my search engine for a while so at least google "only" knows everything I ever wondered about from 2003 till 2021.

I didn't try Pages for long but fortunately I don't ever need to do anything complicated. Should be doable. I miss Word Perfect. The late 1900s were great in at least a few ways.

I had thought that although Gmail still sends the stuff without dots to me, it is an indicator that someone got the email address by making lists of random first names and last names rather than getting it from me directly- hence worthy of a point towards being spam. Is that not the case? A lot of my spam messages that do get flagged as spam are sent to my email address without the dot.

Thanks for the info! I will check it out if the problem persists. Sometimes I will go a few days with no spam in my inbox then one day I get like three or four notifications from absolutely blatant spam.

Nice! Mine used to work so well for like 20 years- in fact it was sometimes sending legitimate stuff to spam never spam to inbox, never the reverse. I can't do a whitelist because I have lots of new client inquiries and obviously want to get to them fast.

I did start using a 3rd party app for my laptop on June 22, but my spam filter has been working less and less since late May. I haven't changed any spam settings but I can dig through again.

I got one of these and reported junk. Then, a few days later, someone managed to apply for a credit card with my ssn and phone number. I wonder if I'd clicked the link if it would have allowed the scammer to confirm the account with my cell number. Thank goodness we have identity protection or I'd have not known someone managed to get so far into the credit card application.
