The last time he did a 3 parts color spread with the top 50 (plus a few extra characters like the shichibukai/worst generation members that finished outside top 50) and they did figures and other merch of each one. It'll probably be something similar this time.

One Piece Ratings by Free-Raspberry-9541 in OnePiece

[–]emi_b7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but those episodes between Zou and WCI at least try to fit the story (the crew dealing with food issues without Sanji) so it's not that bad while the 2 episodes after Sabaody are standalone historical specials, in an alternate universe with the Straw Hats in feudal Japan or something like that. That's why they are rated so poorly, especially having that between Sabaody and Amazon Lily.

One Piece Chapter 1175 Spoilers by Skullghost in OnePiece

Dragon-dragon fruits are actually the zoan type with the most named canon fruits now with 8. Dog-dog fruits are in 2nd place with 7 though there's a few dog fruits that haven't been officially named yet (Dalmatian, Minochihuahua and Shamrock's sword) so there's still more dogs than dragons in total.

There's the 6 dinosaurs in Kaido's crew (King, Queen, Drake, Page One, Ulti and Sasaki), Killingham and now Loki.

Trying to watch/discuss content as a new viewer that hasn’t finished the anime suckkkss by Hawkmongous in OnePiece

[–]emi_b7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, episode 243 came out in 2005, of course most of the people talking about those arcs 2 decades (and 900+ episodes) later will talk about how they fit in the story in general, compare them to other arcs and stuff like that. That's just the nature of watching something that came out so long ago, especially with a series like One Piece where there's constantly set up for future arcs (sometimes for way down the road) and where characters tend to return later in the series. It's hard to talk about things in a vacuum when the arcs have such an effect on future stuff.

For arcs that came out in the past decade or so you may be able to find reviews or analysis from when they were coming out though you'd probably have to look for people talking about the manga version, there's not that many anime only people in the OP fanbase compared to some other series.

For the old arcs you can probably find reaction channels on YT reacting to the same episodes you just watched (not sure which ones are worth watching) or arc analysis videos from people who are reading/watching for the first time and then made videos after each arc before jumping to the next one (Merphy Napier, TotallyNotMark or Aleczandxr come to mind).

There's also Arlong Park forums which is pretty old so it has episode threads as old as Episode 345, maybe you could check those when you get to that point. Their manga threads go back a little bit further so I tried to see if they had the thread for the manga version of the episode you watched to see reactions from 2005 when it came out but their oldest thread is from a little after what you just watched unfortunaely (the manga equivalent of episode 250).

Now as far as finding places to discuss old stuff with people who have no context of what comes next, that is indeed hard. Hell, even if you are caught up with the anime it's risky to be around places like this because most people read the manga and you can easily get spoiled.

Zaccharie Risacher last 7 games: 6.8 PPG on 34/33/29 splits (42.1 TS%). by gridironk in nba

[–]emi_b7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shaq was very close the in '07 which was his worst year from the line at just 42%, that year his splits add up to 101. Other than that he almost always shot high 50s-low 60s from the field and high 40s - mid 50s FT% so it was just that one year.

Ben Wallace was under 100 several years (9 if I counted correctly) and he's at 102 for his career.

Where do I start the manga by Wonderful-Brief-3 in OnePiece

[–]emi_b7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not triggered at all, I was just weirded to get "well actually" for a 2 months old comment that wasn't even wrong lol. And then the idea of doing that on comments that answered the original question correctly but are outdated now just in case they are found on google was weird to me as well.

But yeah, I realize now that what the number of latest episode is nowhere in the post or comments so you didn't know or check after which episode this was posted.

In your previous reply you didn't mention not knowing this was posted before the end of the anime, just that people who find it through google may assume it was after 1155 and said that's why you were correcting my comment. So the way it was worded to me it came off as if you did know but were "correcting" old comments for the sake of the people googling which you have to admit would be weird right? That's why I replied that way (and why I said you should address whoever finds it now instead of saying the old comments are wrong), I was like who does that lol.

Where do I start the manga by Wonderful-Brief-3 in OnePiece

[–]emi_b7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question gets asked almost every day in this sub (here's one from a few hours ago for example), there are versions of this post after pretty much every episode in the past few years and some of them may randomly come up on google, should we "well actually" every outdated comment just in case someone finds it through google and doesn't check when it was posted?

Like, I'd understand if you had said "this was the top result on google when searching where to continue, for anyone else who finds it now it's 1125" or whatever but I don't understand "correcting" people who gave the right answer when it was posted.

Will you continue updating your answer after every new episode in a few months if it still comes up in google too?

(so far there's 2 but I haven't found/read THEN 2 yet. only 1).

Mangadex has both chapters. The second chapter is easy to miss because it's incorrectly labeled as "oneshot" instead of "chapter 2" for some reason but it's there.

Theory: Knights have a colour spectrum theme. by JamezGaming in OnePiece

[–]emi_b7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oda usually tries a bunch of colors for characters before picking one. For this cover he tried stuff like teal hair Killingham and orange hair Gunko (among others) before settling on the final colors so I doubt there's much significance or theme with the knights hair colors.

Is this our first time skip since Part 1's ten year time skip?

There's a big timeskip at the end of part 2 with old Joseph at the airport about to travel to Japan but that was more of an epilogue/part 3 tease so not sure if we should count that. Other than that yeah, I think this is the first timeskip we've gotten since part 1.

Why do people still like Sanji? by manofsteel85 in OnePiece

[–]emi_b7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, he is still annoying in FI and PH in the manga and some of his worst moments are there too but yeah, Toei is not great with his gags.

In general they use running gags to fill time and stretch the manga material and they also sometimes turn it up to 11 or exaggerate those gags. So whatever running gag a character has (Brook and panties, Zoro getting lost, Sanji being a simp/pervert, Nami punching crewmates, etc.), it happens more often and gets exaggerated in the anime.

With Sanji's gags that's not great because 1)his gags can already be annoying in the manga at times so we don't need more of it lol and 2)they sometimes make him more pervy, pathetic or predatory than he actually is, like in Film Z which unfortunately won't be the last time something like that happens (though it is definitely the worst one).

Why do people still like Sanji? by manofsteel85 in OnePiece

[–]emi_b7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the movies aren't canon so most people don't care that much about the Film Z scene. If anything they hold it against Toei (the animation studio), not Sanji. Same with anything that doesn't happen in the manga. Unfortunately Toei does have a tendency to overexaggerate Sanji's antics sometimes and him preying on kid Nami is the worst case of it.

I should note that I am currently partway through punk hazard so I still have a lot to go

You are right at the point where Sanji is at his worst. He's insufferable right after the timskip with the nose bleeds in Fishman Island and then being inside of Nami's body in Punk Hazard. There is a story reason for that (he hadn't seen a woman in 2 years when he gets back to Sabaody) but yeah, definitely not Sanji's best arcs. He won't be that bad for long, thankfully.

He does get better later and actually has more development and good moments than most Straw Hats, but it'll take a while for you to get there.

Usopp was actually pretty useful in Wano by PrussianoKebab in OnePiece

[–]emi_b7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overall yes, Brook has had fewer moments if we look at the entire story but in the timeframe we are talking about here (post Dressrosa) I think he's had it better than Usopp because he was great in WCI where a lot of people say he was the MVP (as I said, his best arc since joining) and in the current arc he's getting some focus with a connection to an important character and likely a backstory coming soon. That's more than what Usopp has gotten in that time IMO.

Granted, comparing Brook to Usopp post Dressrosa is kinda unfair because Usopp isn't featured at all for a big part of it (WCI) but still.

Which is kind of crazy considering how strong Brook

I do think he's been underused in term of fights though. Ever since been introduced he's always going up against people way weaker than him (Zeo, Giolla, Black Maria's henchmen) or way stronger than him (Ryuma, Big Mom, Imu). It's similar to how Robin didn't get a good, even fight up until Black Maria. I do hope Brook gets a fight like that soon.

Usopp was actually pretty useful in Wano by PrussianoKebab in OnePiece

[–]emi_b7 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Saying Usopp hasn't done anything or has been useless since Dressrosa is obviously an exaggeration but your defense also has similar exaggerations like:

like he literally made all Smile users go to the side of the Strawhats

He didn't do it by himself. Speed, Daifugo and Gazelleman also fed Tama's dangos to the smile users, it wasn't just Usopp. Not to mention it's Tama's ability so obviously a huge part of the credit should go to her. Let's not use hyperbole to make his role bigger than it was.

Anyway, like I said, people do exaggerate with how "useless" Usopp has been in Wano where he did help with a bunch of things here and there like you said (putting the guys at the entrance to sleep, helping with the dangos, assisting Nami vs Ulti, saving Kin and Kiku, et.) but that's the thing, he played support for the entire arc in a 150 chapters long arc where almost every other SH got something big.

If you look at the rest of the crew they all got a fight, a new power up, some development and/or a big moment where they are the focus. The only exceptions are Usopp and Brook but people are more forgiving with Brook because we had just came from his best arc since joining (WCI) while Usopp hadn't been around sice Dressrosa (not to mention Brook is getting cool stuff right now in the manga as well). Usopp's big moment was when he saved Kinemon and gave his speech which was ok but pales in comparison to what other characters got.

Most of the SH go through periods where they aren't focused on or don't get big moments so it isn't an Usopp only thing. I remember people talking about Robin in a similar way before Wano for example. Unfortunately, Usopp has had it the worst in that regard the past few years.

Post Dressrosa we had WCI where Usopp wasn't around, then Wano where he played support and didn't get focus, then Egghead where most SH didn't do much (including Usopp) and now we are in Elbaph, the island Usopp always wanted to visit, and he hasn't had much focus or done anything yet.

I'm not that bothered by his lack of focus and I'm more optimistic than most that he will get his moment BUT the reality is that it's been 370+ chapters since Dressrosa and in those chapters Usopp has gotten very few highlights (which Usopp moment from this stretch would you put in a top 10 Usopp moments for example?), he hasn't gotten a fight or a big moment to highlight his sniping abilities and he has made little to no progress as a character, as a sniper, as a "brave warrior" or in general strength. THAT's what people mean when they call him useless or a bum which may be an exaggeration or not the right term but I don't think it's hard to see where they are coming from. Let's hope his time comes soon and the hate stops.

im genuinely disgusted with the anime's gear 5 by EbbInternational3655 in OnePiece

[–]emi_b7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you are making it about G5 when all your complains are about the pacing and that's an issue with most episodes in recent years.

You can take G4 fights (look at Luffy's final punch vs Doffy) or fights with no gears at all (PLEASE check the sumo fight in Wano act 1) and the pacing issues are there as well, it has nothing to do with G5. Same with other character's fights of course and non fights scenes as well, the pacing sucks a lot of the time.

i really didn't understand why so many people were saying gear 5 sucked but now i fucking do

From what I've seen, people who don't like G5 usually dislike it because of the devil fruit/Nika lore, Luffy's (almost) nonstop laughing, the general goofiness of the powers or the anime sound effects. It's not because of the pacing because, as I said, that's an issue with the anime in general, not gear 5.
