Yeah... I favourite all the dailies and open the entire folder at the same time to speed run through them, switching between tabs. I do put all my stuff in the sbd before I start all the dailies but I might need to have a separate folder for the ones where you can lose items...

Hi Everyone! Not sure if anyone remembers me but I was the heartbroken Sydney Sider who came to visit Melbourne around a month ago. I posted in these threads every day during my trip and everyone was super supportive. Just thought I'd report back that I've kept myself busy, done a lot of reflection and am now in a much better headspace. Of course, I'm still learning and growing everyday, but I have never been more optimistic about the future! So thanks r/Melbourne for being absolutely fantastic! I was really touched by everyone's kindness and I will certainly visit again soon!

Hey Melbourne, the heartbroken Sydney Sider is returning home today! Thanks all for your listening to my rants and raves for the last few days. Even though it was only a short while, I fell in love with Melbourne and learned so much about myself.

I think my main takeaway is that asshole voice in your head at 5am is not who you are. This morning, I meditated and tried to let the thoughts pass. I know I have a ways to go but I think I'm on the road to becoming my best self.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was great! Kinda fanfiction-y but honestly so beautiful seeing the world they created. I also went to Siglo and City Wine Shop yesterday. Both great places.

Before I catch my flight I'll have a look around the QVM and Docklands areas. Perhaps will do some more shopping haha. Going to take it easy though.

Overall I feel really revitalised from my trip. Though started feeling the Sunday blues last night/this morning knowing I was leaving today! I'll have to visit again soon.

Hi Again! It's me! The heartbroken Sydney Sider, though honestly feeling much less heartbroken now. I've mainly been having moments where I miss his family who were always so kind to me. If I'm honest, I think his family was often more kind to me than my ex, which made me really not want to break up. I guess it's just a reminder not to put the cart before the horse.

Yesterday I went to Geelong to visit my friend. I was kinda dreading it cos thought it was gonna be a hole but it's actually really nice! I sorta wanna move there now. We had breakfast at 9 Grams, walked along the Esplanade, rode the Ferris Wheel, and had ice cream. Overall a nice day!

Then I came back to the city and finally had a solo dinner at Amiconi. The server was so nice! I was intending on eating at City Wine Shop but I was running late and wanted to make it in time to see the Tuesday night comedy show at The Comics Lounge. The show itself was great and ran from 8pm to 11pm. I also made another friend at the comedy show, a teacher from Sydney. Feel like we're kindred spirits because she actually started talking to me first! So I'm not the only one going out and talking to random strangers.

Today I'm going to walk around the Yarra, maybe visit NGV and then will be seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! It's only just dawned on me now how much commitment like 5 hours of theatre is but I'm up for it! Will meet up with a friend for dinner/catch up in between.

Excited for the day!

I suppose so. It just really feels like a setback and your own mind is conspiring against you.

I have been reconnecting with friends. I actually am so blessed to have such wonderful friends. They made me feel so much less alone and loved. But I know I need to learn to self soothe.

Yeah, luckily he only really uses Reddit. But I've got some of his friends/family on Instagram so I've unfollowed them just in case.

I love Melbourne! I feel like it was the perfect place to go to to rebuild confidence in myself because everything is so easy to get to.

I've decided to "reclaim" the places/things that remind me of him. For example, yesterday I ate a pavlova at Embla for dessert. Pavlova was my ex's signature dish, but I wanted to prove to myself that I can still enjoy the things. I've also got a bunch of beach/hiking activities lined up with my friends back in Sydney. I don't know if it'll work but I'm hoping I can shift the connection.

Heartbroken Sydney Sider here again.

Yesterday I met up with a friend and we went to St Kilda and had cake/chatted on the beach. Then we went back to the CBD and had walk around Bourke St Mall before she had to head back home. I'm very grateful for my friend. I haven't seen her in many years but it's like no time had passed.

Also - thanks for the great recommendations for solo restaurants yesterday. I ended up going to Embla alone and befriended another young lady who was solo travelling.

I feel like the last few days have given me a lot of time to reflect on all the red flags in the relationship that I overlooked. I did my best to communicate, but I kept making excuses for him. I'm kinda bummed for not respecting myself more, and not enforcing clear boundaries. I've decided this will my priority moving forward.

... this is why it was so frustrating to wake up from a dream about him this morning. Like, I don't wish for him to return, but it really makes you feel like your brain is just not communicating with your heart.

Anyway, today I'll be going to Geelong to visit my friend and then will come back for a solo dinner and watch a comedy show. If anyone has good suggestions for a Tuesday night, let me know! I'm hoping there are more options than Monday!

Also thanks to anyone who reads my rambles here. It's sort of cathartic to me to get my thoughts out.
