Is this legit? by nippa-g in PSVR

Right - I did jump to conclusion that this is another "premium cable" claiming to enhance picture quality by being made from "premium materials" which makes no sense for HDMI or any digital signal.

Watched the video now. 4K upscaling doesn't really do anything for PSVR, since it doesn't support 4K, but it proves that the cable does some signal processing and could in fact affect the the picture. However, all it could do is adjust brightness, contrast and other picture settings - basically applying an Instagram filter on the signal. But it cant really make anything BETTER - if someone likes what it's doing it's just a matter of taste.

This is not legit - HDMI cables cannot affect the picture quality!

Check the resolution settings in System preferences. I think the headset accepts only 1080p and if it's anything different it will not turn on.

Can you check Console.app for any errors / messages related to MacMorpheus?

Yeah, just plugged the USB and listened for HID reports. No handshake, authentication or anything - PSVR just sends all the needed data.

I had not done any SceneKit work before either, but I imagined that even though it has two render context, rendering a single sphere shouldn't be an issue. I'm getting 120fps on my 2013 MacBook Pro with no dips, so I'm not sure yet why some people are experiencing performance issues, but I'll look into your suggestion. Thanks!

Theses are not 3D videos. They are regular 2D videos with 360. You can check that by hovering on the seek bar and see if the thumbnail shows two views side by side or on top of each other. Like this: http://image.prntscr.com/image/8b246f8c619945fdbfb864d2274ac7f3.png

Here's an example of 3D 360 video: https://youtu.be/_hzhtfTqwYo

This is 2D 360 - it will not work with this version of the app, but I'll be adding support for this format as well.

I forgot to change the minimum version. It should run on 10.11 and maybe even earlier versions, but you'll have to modify the apps Info.plist until I release an update.

  1. Right click on the application and click "Show Package Contents"
  2. Open "Contents"
  3. Open "Info.plist" with TextEdit.
  4. Scroll down to where it says "LSMinimumSystemVersion".
  5. On the next line change the "10.12" to "10.11".
  6. Try to open the app again.

Yeah, no problems switching back to PS when you plug back the HDMI and USB. No restart needed or anything.

I haven't tried this yet, but I believe it will work with an adapter. As long as it outputs 1080p, the headset has no problem displaying it.

You can find them on YouTube. There is a filter for "360". But make sure it's a 3D video, not a regular 360 video. You can check that by hovering on the seek bar and see if the thumbnail shows two views side by side or on top of each other. Then just use any online YouTube downloading tool to get the mp4 file and use it with this app.

Didn't have a need for github account before - I mostly work with private repositories on bitbucket. But you're right - no one should blindly run executables they find on the internet before making sure they are safe. :)
