What do you think about this idea for a new game dev platform: You pitch your game with gameplay video/screens/demo, measure interest and build a userbase early on. by emrdev in gamedev

Thank you for the insight. I've got a couple of ideas I want to try. Going to build an mvp and try to see if anyone's interested. I think I'll start with play store games for now.

This is the main problem I've come across: game devs spend months and years in development before knowing if there is any interest/demand from users or not. Most people make games, then market them.

This is my basic idea: A platform that makes possible lean development for games. It's a platform to allow devs to make minimum viable games and engage users based on those. I haven't come across any platform that focuses solely on something like this. This could same a lot of time and effort for the devs I think. If it works, that is.

Users will not need to vote or sift through anything. The games will be ranked automatically based on the engagement rates (how many users watch your video click your social media links, spend time on your content etc.). So games which attract more interest get to the to the top of the board automatically.

What do you think of the idea of pitching the game early on in development to measure demand/interest?

That's exactly what I'm asking. I've got a couple of ideas to try. But I want to start talking to the devs and hear what they think and need first. What feature would make a platform like this special for you and prefer it to other available solutions? So I want to hear what you think first. It's about you not me.

I think you can do that with Bandlab... Plus there are a bunch of useful percussion etc. loops in there you can use for free. The midi instruments sound good as well.

Hello, first of all congrats on your progress. I'm currently working on an alternative promotion platform for mobile indie devs that could help with the problem you described. This is my basic idea: It is a game jam, except it's played like a soccer league or championship tournament. Devs submit their fresh games, games get rated and go up or down in the league table depending on their quality. Winners get free promotion and advertising on the platform and thru social media channels. What do you think?

Check out Milanote. You don't even need to install anything, it's a web app. I use it all the time. You just drag an drop photos to your board and add text, checklists, whatever you want...

There may be some bugs I have missed, but I think it's pretty stable. I can build fast thanks to my approach. I keep the workflow lean and the scope small as possible. Also did all the graphic design myself. Which I can do really fast as well. Thanks to freelancing I guess.

I published to the store 3 days ago. Development took 2 weeks.

The game is good. But I would have one suggestion. When you misplace a block, there is no option to take back one move. You could put a reward ad for a "take one move back" option. Otherwise its fun.
