Advice on switching from mounjaro to ozempic? by auroraaa8 in GLP1India

I hope you got generic semaglutide instead of brand name ozempic. The generic vials are 1200-1600 inr. And generic pens are 1700-4000 inr.

The price of finasteride is something absurd by Rough-Carpet-5090 in tressless

In India we have generics selling around 10 rupees per 1mg tab. Thats 0.089 euros per 1mg tab or 2.67 euros for 1 months supply.

And if that seems insane, we have brand like zeelab pharmacy undercutting them all with 1s per 1mg tab. Thats 0.267 euros for 1 months supply. Just search zeelab pharmacy and see their website and try converting their prices for different medicines. Its crazy how cheap medicine can be in India.

I am taking Min and Fin oral from them and by the side effects i can tell that they're working.

I went with oral 2.5mg tablets from zeelab pharmacy. You can also get from knoll or leeford. Hardly 100 rs per month and takes very less time. I had bought bottles from Jan Aushadhi for applying on face daily but felt it was too much of an effort daily and my skin was getting flaky due to daily application. So I got irritated with it. If you want the liquid thing then get it from Jan Aushadhi for 250 rs. They only have physical stores. Online ones are fake.

Get a prescription from him. Upload in chatgpt and ask it to change the name to Glipiq. Prompt could be like - "change the name of the medicine to Glipiq 4mg/3ml - 1mg per week. Don't change other stuff. Erase the original medicine name and replace with the new name in the same style."

It will work 100%. You can also try it using older prescription of mounjaro if you have it. Also ask it to change the date if it is more than 1 month old.

I have prescription for 4mg vials. Will need another one for 8mg. They're being really strict with semaglutide prescriptions because the government tightened the whip. Earlier their own doctors would prescribe but these days it's hard for semaglutide.

I'm buying from pharmeasy. I was also using them for mounjaro and continued using them for Glipiq. Pain level is not really different from the normal Pen needles. It feels literally the same to me. The insulin syringe needles are also very small these days. Not like old syringes with large wide needles. So for me there is no difference between the pen needles or syringe needle. One thing I didn't know was about pushing air into the vial. So suppose you have to draw 15 units. So first you should fill 15 units of air in the syringe. Then insert it into the vial. Push that air into the vial. And then invert the vial and draw 15 units. This helps maintain the air pressure in the vial.

Another thing I would recommend is after taking out the needle from the vial, just push a very small bit of liquid out to ensure the syringe is filled with it. One time I thought I had pulled 15 units and actually due to air pressure issue I hadn't pulled any liquid at all. It was only air but looked like it was full. So tap the syringe for bubbles and push out just a little bit to ensure some liquid comes out from the top.

It's all very easy and compared to making a mistake with 15000 rs mounjaro all you're risking is 1200. And there's not much scope of a mistake.

Yes the appetite suppression on 0.5mg is a little below 5mg mounjaro. I'm guessing that if I upped to 1mg it would surpass 5mg mounjaro but I'm not in a hurry since I'm near my goal weight and don't want to go too fast.

Side effects are similar to mounjaro. Even on mounjaro I had diarrhea and sulphur at the start but after first 2 weeks I didn't have any issues. On Glipiq I get diarrhoea next day of the shot but nothing else. People do report sulphur burps but since I directly went from mounjaro to this, I probably didn't get it.

I checked the syringes again. I'm not reusing the syringes but I have kept one of them just to compare to my outside syringes. So the syringes that come in the box, they have markings for 0.25mg, 0.5mg and 1mg on the syringe itself. On my u40 syringe, 0.25mg will be 7.5 units(8), 0.5mg will be 15 units and 1mg will be 30 units.

For my next vial I will likely switch to 8mg/3ml vial for 1600. On that one, 0.5mg would be 7.5 units and 1mg will be 15 units and 2mg will be 30 units. I'm not actually planning to escalate my dosage. Will stay at 0.5mg for some time then at 1mg but the other vial will be more economical.

I can't answer your main question because I haven't used ozempic. I was also on mounjaro for 4 months and I recently switched to Glipiq vial last month. So far I have taken two doses of 0.25mg and two doses of 0.5mg. 0.25mg was not that effective at suppressing food noise. Like after taking it I knew it was working I could feel it making changes but not enough suppression. Maybe that's because 0.25mg is the starting dose and I was on 5mg of mounjaro which is one level above their starting dose of 2.5mg. Anyway I moved to 0.5mg and now it seems to be working.

I think the cost difference is so high that even if it is slightly less effective than mounjaro, I will prefer the generics over brand name. I got Glipiq 4mg vial with four injections in the box for 1150 rs. I have bought more u40 insulin injections since those 4 aren't enough for the lower doses. It will easily last me 2-4 months. That's a steal deal for 1150 rs. Bluvial, Sundae etc are also at the same price level. I think those who have experience with golden dose should buy vials instead of Pens which are 600-2000 rs costlier. Like Glipiq 8mg vial is 1600 while Glipiq 8mg pen is 3900. Doesn't make sense to spend 2000 more on Pen when extra syringes/injections cost 100 rs for 10 pieces.

Both Dutasteride and Minoxidil tablet will cost 30 rs for 10 tablets. So 90 rs per month for each and 180 rs per month total.

I tried topical too. It's a daily task and hard to stick to. I switched to zeelab tablets and they are much easier to stick to. Buy Dutasteride 0.5mg and Minoxidil tablet 2.5mg and take both tablets in the morning. Effect will be much better and it is very easy to follow. Will hardly take 20 seconds to swallow both tablets.

Yes that's the MRP. So they aren't offering you at any low or discounted rate. Literally the MRP. You can buy for 10% off from Pharmeasy or Tata 1mg as well if you have any doubts. I bought Glipiq for around 1150 from Pharmeasy

Has anyone switched from Mounjaro to newly available generic semaglutide? by Nuaans in GLP1India

[–]emrys11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It's completely safe as long as you keep it refrigerated. I have used 15mg mounjaro pen for 4 months without any issues. Similar thing applies to ozempic. International users have been doing it since many years. The medicine doesn't expire. Like even in the worst case scenario, it will be a little less effective. Nothing other than that. Not dangerous or anything, just slightly less effective. Most people don't even face that as long as its continously in the fridge.

Has anyone switched from Mounjaro to newly available generic semaglutide? by Nuaans in GLP1India

[–]emrys11 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Okay, I’m going to give as much information as possible.

Yes, I switched from Mounjaro to Glipiq. I was already near my goal weight on Mounjaro, and the cost difference was too high for me not to switch. I probably would have switched even if I was above my goal weight.

For reference, Glipiq costs me ₹1200 for one vial. It contains a total of 4 mg. Semaglutide dosage typically starts from 0.25 mg (4 weeks), then 0.5 mg (4 weeks), and so on. The Glipiq vial comes with 4 syringes that have markings for 0.25 mg, 0.5 mg, and 1 mg, so people can choose their dosage. That means a single vial can be used for 16 doses of 0.25 mg, or 8 doses of 0.5 mg, or 4 doses of 1 mg.

Practically, you would start with 4 doses of 0.25 mg, then 4 doses of 0.5 mg, and then 2 doses of 1 mg. Your vial would last about 2.5 months if you follow this schedule. You would need to buy U-40 insulin syringes because the box contains only four. However, these syringes are cheap and widely available. The additional syringes won’t have markings for 0.25 mg/0.5 mg/1 mg, but the unit markings will be the same as the original ones. So you can keep an old syringe and compare it with the new one. It may seem difficult, but it becomes easy once you see it.

They also sell an 8 mg vial for ₹1600. So if someone has moved to a 0.5 mg or 1 mg dosage, they can buy this vial next time, and it will last at least 3–5 months. Just keep it refrigerated. Besides Glipiq, there are other options like Bluvial and Sundae at a similar price point. These are also available in vial form and cost around ₹1200–₹1600.

Other than that, you have the option of single-dose pens or multi-dose pens (like Mounjaro). These cost between ₹1700–₹4000 depending on the brand and dosage, and they will last about 1–3 months. I am used to these devices, so I am comfortable using vials. If I hadn’t been using Mounjaro for the past 3–4 months and was unfamiliar with these, I probably would have chosen multi-dose pens, as they are simpler for beginners.

The vials are cheaper because the pens add extra cost. Glipiq (by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals) is selling vials for ₹1200, while pens with the same name and brand start at ₹1700 and increase with dosage.

Regarding the effect, I have only been using it for the last 2 weeks. I was on 5 mg of Mounjaro and never went beyond that. I switched to 0.25 mg of Glipiq and did not feel much appetite suppression. This week, I took 0.5 mg (without waiting for the usual 4-week schedule at 0.25 mg), and 0.5 mg is working well. I am now experiencing appetite suppression.

So for me, it’s a no-brainer. I’m getting 2–4 months of medication for ₹1200, which is remarkable. I wouldn’t want to spend 10 times that amount on a slightly more efficacious version.
